About the Role
We are looking for a People Ops Generalist reporting directly to VP of HR to help us build and scale the foundational HR operations that support our growing team. As we grow quickly, we need someone who’s excited to roll up their sleeves and help define how we do compensation, onboarding, development, employee experience, and more.
This role is ideal for someone who wants broad exposure across HR, ops, and employee experience—and who loves solving problems, supporting people, and building great internal systems from the ground up.
What You'll Do
You’ll own and support a wide range of People Ops initiatives across the business, including:
Compensation & Benchmarking
Conduct compensation and equity benchmarking across roles and levels
Support annual compensation planning and bonus allocation processes
People Development & Engagement
Support performance review cycles and leveling guides
Support the OKR set up and review process
Onboarding & Offboarding
Coordinate and execute smooth onboarding experiences, ensuring equipment, access, and training are ready before day one.
Guide managers and employees through offboarding with professionalism, including exit interviews, asset return, and secure account deactivation.
Continuously improve both processes based on feedback to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
Recruiting
Manage full-cycle recruiting from job requisition to offer acceptance, ensuring a positive candidate experience.
Source, screen, and interview candidates using structured, competency-based methods to ensure role fit.
Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements and make data-informed hiring decisions.
Systems & Processes
Own and maintain internal people systems (Justwork, Remote.com, headcount tracking)
Maintain central view of company-wide tech stack; evaluate and roll out new tools to support the employee experience
Partner with external counsel to manage immigration workflows (H1-B, OPT/CPT, green cards)
Employer Brand & Talent Marketing
Collaborate with marketing to amplify The Block’s culture externally (e.g. blog, social, job boards)
Support recruiting team with top-of-funnel employer branding projects and partnerships
Manage Employee Operational Inquiries
Respond promptly to employee questions on HR policies, benefits, payroll, and workplace processes, providing accurate and consistent guidance
Track and resolve recurring issues, escalating complex cases to the appropriate department and updating documentation to prevent future misunderstandings.
This is a new, highly cross-functional role with lots of opportunities to flex into other project areas across strategy, finance, revenue operations, product, and more!
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who has:
3+ years of relevant experience in People Ops, HR, Recruiting, or Total Rewards
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail—you love keeping things moving and making things better
Clear communication and a people-first mindset
Comfort handling sensitive and confidential information
A proactive, self-directed approach—you don’t need a playbook to get started
Bonus if you have:
Experience working in a global or distributed team
Experience working at a fast-paced startup
Experience in managing equity programs

Successfully managed employee operational inquiries
