Job Title: People Operations Coordinator
Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Location: Denver, Colorado
Hourly Range: $27-29/hour
What the role is about:
The People Operations Coordinator provides essential administrative and operational support across the People & Culture department, with primary responsibility for onboarding administration and employee lifecycle processes. This role ensures accuracy and confidentiality in employee records, processes HRIS transactions, coordinates onboarding activities, and supports day-to-day People Operations functions. Serving as a first point of contact for routine employee inquiries, the People Operations Coordinator delivers responsive, professional service while maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. By providing accurate administrative support and fostering a welcoming onboarding experience, this role helps deliver a consistent, people-first experience for employees.
What impact you'll make:
Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle Administration (40%)
Administer the onboarding process from offer acceptance to first day, ensuring all tasks are completed on schedule and providing a welcoming experience for new hires
Conduct and track I-9 verifications, monitor E-Verify compliance, and maintain documentation per federal and state requirements
Coordinate onboarding logistics, including systems access (HRIS, payroll, benefits), account setup, badges, and new hire announcements
Process employee lifecycle transactions, including hires, transfers, compensation changes, and promotions, by entering accurate information into the HRIS
Maintain complete and accurate personnel records in compliance with retention requirements
People & Culture Administrative Support (35%)
Manage the People & Culture inbox, serving as the first point of contact for responding to routine inquiries and directing more complex matters to the appropriate People & Culture team member
Maintain digital employee files with accuracy, ensuring compliance with confidentiality requirements and audit readiness
Provide administrative support for day-to-day People & Culture operations, including maintaining department records, processing documentation, and completing routine administrative tasks
Compliance & Culture Programs (25%)
Support distribution of company policies and maintenance of employee acknowledgements in accordance with established procedures
Help coordinate logistical support for culture-building activities (events, company lunches, recognition events) that reinforce company values
Actively model company values in all interactions, serving as a culture ambassador and reinforcing a consistent, people-first workplace
Please note that the percentage allocations are a general estimate and may vary based on business needs and priorities. Additional duties may be required as needed to support overall operations
What you've accomplished:
- 5+ years of professional AP/AR or accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Cannabis industry knowledge is a plus
- Attention to detail, organization, and accuracy is critical
- Ability to prioritize, work independently, and multi-task
- Efficient internal and external communication is critical
- Experience with Business Central or a similar accounting ERP system a plus
- Experience with AP routing/approval software
- Computer skills required include working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, especially Outlook and Excel
- Ability to stay calm and professional given high volume and tight deadlines
Working Conditions (Schedule, Environment, Travel)
- This role follows a hybrid schedule of up to two remote days and three on-site days
- Monday through Friday (approximately 8:00AM to 5:00PM)
- Additional hours are based on the manager's requirements, with some weekend work as needed
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) badge in the state of Colorado
