This position provides legal support to Privacy Counsel relating to compliance with federal and state healthcare privacy laws and regulations (including HIPAA/HITECH and state privacy laws). Responsibilities include supporting privacy incident response, assisting with contract triage and review, reviewing business legal collateral, identifying privacy and regulatory risks, helping Counsel respond to privacy-related inquiries and initiatives, and building effective communication and partnerships with relevant business stakeholders based on coverage area.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Research, analyze, and communicate legal facts and privacy concepts
  • Identify and escalate potential legal and privacy issues for Counsel’s guidance
  • Conduct research on state and federal privacy laws, regulations, guidance, and policies
  • Support privacy incident response, triage, tracking, and documentation
  • Assist with contract triage and review to identify privacy-related issues and support Counsel’s review
  • Review business legal collateral, including teammate-facing materials, forms, communications, and business initiatives, to identify and mitigate privacy risks
  • Build effective partnerships with relevant business stakeholders based on assigned coverage
  • Prepare, review, and revise legal communications, notices, and documentation as directed by attorneys
  • Assist with special legal and privacy projects
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Essential Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or Certificate in Paralegal Studies highly preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
  • Minimum of three years of paralegal or related experience preferred
  • Privacy, healthcare regulatory, or legal research experience preferred

The Wage Range for the role is $26.50 - $40.50 per hour.
