Outside Sales Representative – Rebar Sales
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated, results-driven Outside Sales Representative to develop new business, maintain existing customer relationships, and grow market share within an assigned territory. This individual will work closely with estimators, project managers, detailing, and operations to secure profitable projects while providing exceptional customer service throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors and concrete contractors.
- Prospect and secure new commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and multi-family construction opportunities.
- Manage an assigned sales territory while developing strategic account plans.
- Review bid opportunities and coordinate with estimating to ensure accurate, timely proposals.
- Conduct customer visits, jobsite meetings, and project reviews.
- Follow up on outstanding bids and obtain bid tabulations and competitive market intelligence.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms.
- Forecast sales activity and maintain an accurate opportunity pipeline CRM.
- Monitor project schedules and proactively identify opportunities for price adjustments.
- Coordinate project handoffs to operations after award while maintaining customer relationships.
- Attend industry events, contractor meetings, and networking functions.
- Meet or exceed annual sales, tonnage, and gross margin objectives.
- 5+ years of outside sales experience in rebar.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new business through prospecting and relationship selling.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM software (Salesforce preferred).
- Valid driver's license with ability to travel throughout assigned territory.
- Understanding of reinforcing steel estimating, detailing, or fabrication.
