Raptor Dynamix is seeking an experienced Optical Systems Engineer to lead the design, simulation, and testing of complex electro-optical and laser systems. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams to transition optical prototypes into reliable production hardware.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in optical engineering, alignment, and system testing.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced working knowledge of optical design software like Zemax or Code V.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with scientific computing and analysis tools such as MATLAB or Python.
- Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required due to federal security clearance eligibility.
Essential Job Duties
The ideal candidate is capable, motivated, and willing to learn and grow as the position evolves. As a Senior Optical Systems Engineer, you must be able to:
- Optical Design & Analysis: Create and optimize optical components, lens assemblies, and sensor payloads using ray-tracing tools.
- Prototyping & Testing: Build, align, and test optical breadboards and laser subsystems in a laboratory environment.
- Data Processing: Develop simulation and data analysis routines utilizing scientific programming languages.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
Documentation: Author comprehensive test procedures, component specifications, and technical design reviews.

Location
This position will be based at the Company’s Monument, Colorado office location, but you will have the option to work remotely.
