SMX is seeking an Operations Project Manager to work as part of an integrated program management team within the Global Defense Business Unit. The Operations Project Manager will assist the lead in management and support for multiple projects, financials, schedules, deliverables, processes, templates, configuration controls, system improvements, reviews, and business reporting.
This position requires a DoD TS/SCI which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Independently executes and monitors project activities
- Manage changes to scope, cost and schedule of projects
- Prepares, reviews, and updates project plans and status reports
- Tracks contract line items, funding balances and provisional billing rates
- Designs and develops financial interfaces and dashboards for data visualizations
- Analyzes current financial systems and methodologies of financial tracking to identify and implement improvements and enhancements based on user feedback
- Coordinates with internal and external project personnel and stakeholders
- Allocates resources to ensure projects are completed within time and budget
- Leads efficiency improvements for financial management methodologies
- Prepares and reviews project documentation and briefs for presentation to customers and management
- Tracks program/project status, budgets, resources, and schedules
- Performs management, technical, program cost, or business case analysis, supporting budget allocation and financial decision-making
- Develop reports, briefings, and presentations, translating complex subject matter into clear, actionable insights
- Track contract line items, funding balances, and rates
- Create and review invoices, travel requests, purchase requests, and subcontracts
- Identifies project equipment requirements
- Create, submit, and track equipment procurement documentation
- Prepare trip reports and monthly status reports
- Supports CONUS/OCONUS site surveys, meetings, inspections, and deliveries
- Supports the Contract Manager for operational direction and oversight
- Updates and maintains production and quality metrics for assigned projects
Required Skills & Experience
- Required clearance: Ability to obtain TS/SCI
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 5 years of project and/or acquisition management experience
- Federal/DOD acquisition knowledge
- GSA AAS acquisition operations experience
- Cost-type contracts experience
- Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Desired Skills & Experience
- 10 years of project management experience
- PMI PMP is preferred, or DAWIA Level II
