Pay Range
$54.90 - $82.35Major Responsibilities:- Serves as principle investigator or co-investigator on research studies. Provides expertise regarding data analysis and synthesis of evidence to identify and support practice changes.
- Leads project teams to develop and implement innovative research protocols, conduct analyses, and prepare reports, abstracts and manuscripts. Develops timelines and budgets with Nursing leaders and ensures tasks are completed on time and within budget. Plans and monitors all activities related to research protocols to ensure the ethical conduct of research.
- Serves as liaison to other scientists/collaborators/students to navigates organizational requirements and shares relevant organizational information. Leverages academic and clinical partnerships to achieve organizational priorities such as ANCC Magnet Program research standard fulfillment.
- Disseminates own research findings through publication of manuscripts and internal and external presentations.
- Provides guidance to Director of Nursing Quality and Nursing Education leadership regarding the development of resources and procedures to support evidence based practice/quality improvement.
- Seeks internal or external funding as appropriate to support regional or system level research studies or other evidence based practice projects.
- Participates in System Nursing Research Council and contributes to achievement of metrics.
- Engages extensively with System Director of Nursing Research and site CNOs to provide timely reports on progress and attainment of research objectives together with an analysis of potential issues, risks, and corrective actions required.
- Provides consultation regarding achievement of written documentation required to fulfill the research and innovation standards of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program for all sites either applying for or re-designating as a Magnet facility.
- Provides regular updates to peers regarding current work engaged in or completed.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
Education Required:
- Doctorate Degree in Nursing.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 7 years of experience in conducting research, with at least 5 years of these being responsible for leading clinical research teams with a proven record of successful research study completion and dissemination of findings.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Expert in the conduct of research methods, proposal development, data analysis, publication and presentation of findings.
- Strong analytical thinker able to utilize data to identify practice issues and synthesize evidence to address the practice issue.
- Ability to identify key elements and define detailed protocol / project work and incorporate them in to study plan.
- Delivery focused and able to work through the challenges of conducting multi-site research studies or strategic projects.
- Expertise in Nursing and research standards.
- Ability to lead diverse research teams.
- Team oriented with ability to form high performing teams from sets of diverse team members.
- Strong communication skills and tools with demonstrated ability to concisely communicate with Nursing leaders.
- Key to establishing goals, milestones, and priorities, ensuring team members understand work assignments and in communicating project status, risks and issues to senior leadership.
- Able to interact on a scientific level with organizational, physician, and external community groups or funders.
- Demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills, professional communications, and conflict resolution skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Exposed to normal office environment.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time as well as stand and walk throughout each workday.
- Ability to work some evening and weekend hours to accommodate patient treatment schedules and/or research lab needs.
- Capable of using the hands for fine manipulation required for performing measuring/pipetting, operating laboratory and computer equipment.
- May be exposures to mechanical, electrical, chemical, biological, and radioactive hazards, therefore; personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
- May come in contact with animals/fur in some laboratories; therefore should not have allergies to animals/fur.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
