Who we are:

Nirvana is on a mission to harness the power of data to revolutionize commercial insurance and enable a safer world. We're bringing much-needed innovation to the legacy, trillion-dollar commercial insurance industry with an AI-native platform that changes how an insurance company operates, from risk selection and pricing to underwriting, claims and loss prevention.

We proved the model in commercial auto, one of the toughest lines in insurance. Using real-time telematics data from more than 30 billion miles, we built predictive models that understand and price risk better. Since then we've grown to serve thousands of fleets and more than doubled written premium year over year, with a loss ratio, efficiency and customer experience that are redefining what's possible. Now we're taking the same platform (data, technology and underwriting discipline) into new lines of business and new programs.

With $270+ million raised, including our Series D round in December 2025, we’re only accelerating our growth, with strong support from top-tier VCs including Lightspeed, General Catalyst, and Valor. Nirvana’s leadership team has previously helped scale multi-billion-dollar companies from scratch, including Samsara, Glassdoor, and Flexport, and includes industry veterans from Nationwide, The Hartford, and RLI.

About the role:

Nirvana is expanding beyond commercial auto, and we’re looking for a New Programs Development to help build our next generation of insurance programs. You’ll be at the forefront of building the repeatable pipeline: uncovering attractive market opportunities, finding exceptional underwriting leaders, helping find capacity partners, and launching programs.

Our approach starts with people and opportunity—not just a predetermined list of product lines. When we find an underwriting leader with deep expertise in a profitable niche, we want to explore building a program around them on the Nirvana platform. You’ll help make those connections happen.

This is a hands-on, relationship-driven, new program development role for someone who already knows the insurance ecosystem and has a network they can put to work. You’ll report directly to the General Manager, and have a front row seat in shaping the future of our growth.

If you enjoy opening doors, connecting the right people, and turning market insight into new business, this is an opportunity to help shape a diversified insurance platform from the ground up.

What you’ll do:
  • Constantly expand your network across reinsurance brokers, fronting carriers, MGAs and underwriting leaders, and represent Nirvana in the market as a go-to partner for new programs.

  • Source program opportunities through multiple channels, including broker and carrier relationships, underwriting talent, industry events and market research, so we see the best opportunities before the broader market.

  • Build and manage a continuous pipeline of opportunities across multiple lines of business, from first introduction through launch.

  • Build the business case for each program and help secure capacity, working with reinsurers, fronting carriers and Nirvana leadership.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape our portfolio strategy: which lines and niches we enter, and how we build a diversified, multi-line insurance platform.

About you:
  • 7+ years in insurance, in reinsurance brokerage, MGA (managing general agent) program development, fronting-carrier business development or closely related roles.

  • An established network across reinsurance brokers, fronting carriers, MGAs and underwriting leaders that you can put to work from day one.

  • A proven track record of originating, structuring or launching programs and driving relationships. You've originated program opportunities or helped bring them to market yourself, rather than only managing inbound deals or an existing book.

  • A hands-on operator who is comfortable with ambiguity, disciplined about follow-through, and uses AI to scale your sourcing, research and pipeline work.

  • A clear communicator who works well with senior industry professionals and with Nirvana leadership, and keeps everyone aligned on priorities and next steps.

Benefits:
  • Competitive salary & equity

  • Medical, dental & vision insurance

  • 401k with company match

  • Unlimited PTO

  • U.S.-based candidates welcome; San Francisco preferred

Nirvana offers a wide range of best-in-class, comprehensive benefits for this role including 100% employer paid healthcare plans, a healthy 401k match program, paid time off, parental leave, wellness reimbursement, work-from-home stipend and more. In addition, Nirvana offers equity for all full-time employees, which will have a significant impact on your overall compensation.

We set our salary ranges using compensation data from companies similar to our stage and size. For this role, the estimated salary range including bonus is $137,000-$196,000. The actual base salary will vary depending on multiple factors unique to each candidate, including location, job-related knowledge, transferable skills, work experience and our assessment of your level during the interview process.

Nirvana is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you're interested in this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply. We'd like to consider you for this position and roles that may be a fit in the future. Nirvana is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, orientation, national origin, age, disability, genetics or any other basis forbidden under federal, state, or local law. Nirvana considers all qualified applicants in accordance with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
