Internship Overview

This position is specifically designed to allow U.S. Military SkillBridge/Hiring Our Heroes internship candidates to apply for a Network Engineering internship with Radix Metasystems.  Radix is not currently taking applications for college/university interns, but we hope to begin doing so in the future.

Our interns typically learn to become Tier II Technicians through training and mentorship by Radix Network Engineers, learning to support our customer’s computer data communications systems by: providing design specifications, testing and inspections for computer networks; plan and implementing upgrades; as well as, analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • The Tier 2 network field technician will support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices
  • Respond to and resolve incident tickets.
  • Provide support to Tier 3 network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, coordinate and install new equipment).
  • Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades. Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, inventory.

Primary Locations:

  • Buckley Space Force Base, Aurora, CO 80011
  • Other possible locations, depending on speciality and availability of Radix mentors, are:  Las Cruces, NM; Springfield, VA; Omaha, NE; and San Antonio, TX

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Currently active TS/SCI security clearance issued by a U.S. Government Entity
  • U.S. Government Adjudicated Full-Scope or Counterintelligence polygraph
  • Minimum of 6 years of Network Design/Engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification requirements
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work, and communicate, with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program team
  • Technical Qualifications: 
    • Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience
    • Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLAN’s)
    • Knowledge of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Brocade and Foundry OS
    • Familiar (doesn’t need to be a SME) with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF,BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE
    • Familiar with Viso and Service Now

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
