Summary: The Network Engineer supports and maintains a global network environment, ensuring reliable and secure operations across routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless systems. This role troubleshoots issues, supports network projects, and helps manage day-to-day operations including incidents, changes, and capacity. The Network Engineer collaborates with IT teams and business stakeholders, prioritizes workload across multiple needs, and contributes to technical documentation and continuous improvement efforts. 

Essential Functions:    

  • Manage global network environment including physical equipment management and assisting in design recommendations. Support includes: 
    • Cisco, Brocade, Fortinet and other Route/Switch environments 
    • Palo Alto, Cisco, and other firewalls 
    • Wireless Controllers  
    • Wireless Access Points (WAP) 
    • UPS systems  
    • Incident, Request, Change, and Problem management  
    • Capacity management   
    • Firmware management  
    • IPAM management  
  • Analyze complex business problems and issues as it relates to enterprise network infrastructure. 
  • Provide technical guidance to IT professionals to correct issues encountered with network and applications.  
  • Manage the needs of multiple customers, prioritize needs and manage the daily workload. 
  • Assist with projects and work with project managers to set the scope and timelines of new projects to meet completion deadlines. 
  • Interface with all levels of employees internally and within client businesses to support engagement requirements (business owners, project managers, customer employees, and executive management). 
  • Write technical procedural documentation for co-workers and for delegated tasks.   

Required Education, Knowledge, and Experience:  

  • Bachelor's degree or qualification in an IT related discipline or equivalent technical and business experience. 
  • 3-7+ years’ experience in managing enterprise network infrastructures. 
  • Maintain proper certification levels to meet departmental needs. 
  • Required: Cisco CCNP or equivalent experience 
  • Preferred: Cisco CCDE | Palo Alto PCNSA | AZ-700 
  • Valued: Cisco CCIE | Palo Alto PCNSE 
  • Other industry certifications a plus

Experience with the following is required: 

    • Industry best practice network troubleshooting experience 
    • Providing process improvement recommendations and documentation 
    • Layer 2/3 networking 
    • BGP, EIGRP, & OSPF routing protocols 
    • Hands-on experience with managing network hardware (including install, configuration, and decommission) 
    • Wireless networking (controller management) 
    • High Availability (HA) methodologies & technologies 
    • Network device firmware management 
    • Experience with the following is valued but not required: 
    • Monitoring technologies (LogicMonitor, Nectus, SolarWinds, etc.) 
    • Automation tools (PowerShell, Ansible playbooks, etc.) 
    • Cloud Platforms (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, etc.) 
    • Network security technologies 

    Abilities and Skills: 

    • Ability to analyze complex business systems and proprietary application configurations, document the configurations and processes, and support them as needed. 
    • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands and tasks and successfully manage multiple engagements that may require additional resources. 
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
    • Ability to explain product material to a variety of audiences at all levels of the business. 
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.  
    • Flexibility in concepts and actions with the ability to deliver expected service levels. 
    • Ability to work in a team environment. 
    • Ability to work and make decisions independently.  

    Physical, Mental Requirements and Work Environment:   

    • Candidates local in Indianapolis, work hybrid onsite work schedule, generally 3 days a week, and have dependable transport for any on-site visits required. 
    • Will be on-call and expected to provide after-hours support as needed.  
    • Must be able to work on a computer for long periods. 
    • Travel to customer sites as needed.  Not more than 10%.
