Microsoft Azure & M365 Infrastructure Engineer

Resource Innovations is seeking a Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team in Salt Lake City UT, Fresno CA, Chicago IL, Phoenix AZ, Los Angeles CA, or Denver CO. We are looking for a skilled cloud infrastructure professional with experience in Azure, Microsoft 365, identity management, and hybrid environments. In this role, you will administer, secure, and optimize Azure and Microsoft 365 services while improving reliability, user experience, and operational efficiency across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure across approved subscriptions, resource groups, regions, and landing-zone patterns. 
• Administer Azure Virtual Machines, managed disks, Storage Accounts, Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, private endpoints, load-balancing services, DNS, backup, and hybrid connectivity. 
• Use Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Service Health, diagnostic settings, alerting, and recovery tools to maintain service availability and operational visibility. 
• Apply Azure Policy, resource locks, tagging, role-based access control, privileged-access standards, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud recommendations. 
• Administer Microsoft 365 tenant settings, service health, administrative roles, licensing assignments, usage reporting, and support escalations. 
• Administer Exchange Online capabilities including mail flow, accepted domains, shared resources, distribution groups, transport rules, message tracing, retention coordination, and service troubleshooting. 
• Administer Microsoft Teams capabilities including policies, calling and meeting settings, Teams lifecycle controls, external access, guest collaboration, and service troubleshooting. 
• Administer SharePoint Online and OneDrive capabilities including site administration, sharing controls, permissions support, storage oversight, synchronization issues, and collaboration governance. 
• Coordinate Microsoft 365 Apps administration, update-channel decisions, service configuration, deployment support, and issue resolution with endpoint-management teams. 
• Administer Microsoft Entra integration for Azure and Microsoft 365, including groups, administrative roles, enterprise applications, managed identities, service principals, access assignments, and least-privilege controls. 
• Use PowerShell and Microsoft Graph to automate repeatable Azure and Microsoft 365 administration, reporting, license management, configuration validation, and operational tasks. 
• Monitor Microsoft 365 service health and Message Center communications, assess organizational impact, coordinate response, and maintain stakeholder-facing service documentation. 
• Partner with cybersecurity and compliance teams on Microsoft Purview, Defender XDR, data retention, sensitivity labels, DLP, audit, eDiscovery, and security posture improvements while respecting separation of duties. 
• Troubleshoot incidents, fulfill service requests, implement approved changes, document root cause, maintain runbooks and diagrams, and participate in escalation or on-call coverage when required.  
• Other duties as assigned.

• Hands-on experience administering production services in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. 
• Experience with Azure compute, storage, networking, subscriptions, resource groups, monitoring, backup, and access controls. 
• Experience administering at least two core Microsoft 365 workloads, such as Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, or Microsoft 365 Apps. 
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, role-based access control, administrative roles, groups, enterprise applications, authentication, and least-privilege principles. 
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, mail flow, federation, permissions, sharing, and hybrid connectivity concepts. 
• Experience with PowerShell for Azure or Microsoft 365 administration; familiarity with Microsoft Graph is strongly desired. 
• Experience monitoring cloud service health, troubleshooting user-impacting issues, coordinating service restoration, and maintaining operational documentation. 
• Clear written and verbal communication with the ability to collaborate across infrastructure, service desk, security, compliance, application, and business teams. 
• Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.

Preferred skills, education and experience

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate. 
• Microsoft 365 workload certification aligned to the role, such as Teams Administrator Associate, Endpoint
• Administrator Associate, Identity and Access Administrator Associate, or Information Security Administrator Associate. 
• Experience with Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft 365 Apps, Entra ID, and tenant-level service administration. 
• Experience with Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender XDR, Defender for Office 365, Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management, and Secure Score. 
• Experience supporting hybrid identity, Exchange hybrid, Azure-connected infrastructure, VPN, ExpressRoute, or enterprise network integrations. 
• Familiarity with IT service management, configuration management, incident management, change management, problem management, and disaster recovery exercises. 
• Experience with Microsoft 365 licensing analysis, service adoption reporting, Azure Cost Management, resource optimization, tagging, budgets, and showback practices.

Compensation & Benefits

Resource Innovations offers competitive salaries based on a candidate's skills, experience and qualifications for the position.  The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $90,000-$115,000. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.  The stated salary represents the expected compensation for this position. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education and location.
