Summary
Forge Nano Inc. is a fast-growing materials company with a focus on manufacturing nano-scale coatings across a wide range of markets. Forge Nano is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their Engineering Design and Manufacturing Team.
The Mechanical Engineer should be prepared for Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) so that procurement of materials can be based on CAD assemblies. 2D drawings will be required for assembly and fabrication specifications. The role requires understanding of mechanical systems in the role of vacuum deposition. Assembly instructions and compositions will be required for production of equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support mechanical design of subsystems and components for process equipment platforms
- Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD tools
- Assist in design reviews, incorporating feedback to improve performance, reliability, and manufacturability
- Work with senior engineers to define design requirements, interfaces, and tolerances
- Generate and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials) and engineering documentation
- Support prototype builds, system integration, and troubleshooting activities
- Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and cost targets
- Participate in root cause analysis and design improvements based on test or field data
- Ensure designs comply with internal standards, safety requirements, and applicable regulations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships/co-ops acceptable)
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCad)
- Understanding of mechanical fundamentals (mechanics, thermals, materials, GD&T basics)
- Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced development environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing for vacuum systems, fluid systems, or semiconductor equipment
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, welding, etc.)
- Exposure to system integration or hardware development environments
- Experience with PDM/PLM systems
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, Electrical Schematics

Work Environment
This is an on-site role. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, steel toe shoes, lab coat, and in the plant, a hard hat. Strict adherence to corporate and/or plant policies, rules and regulations in these areas is required. Travel
Up to 15% travel to client locations may be required.
Compensation/Benefits
- $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year based on experience.
