The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Marketing Specialist – Business Development coordinates and executes marketing campaigns and stewardship initiatives across major donor audiences, including major gifts, foundations, planned giving, and mid-level donors, to cultivate awareness, affinity, engagement, and support for the WWP mission. Additionally, this role provides marketing support to WWP signature events and donor stewardship teams, helping advance team objectives and donor engagement efforts.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement and support the management of established marketing plans in support of major giving objectives, working collaboratively with the Marketing Manager and a cross-functional team of internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate and execute stewardship and fundraising marketing campaigns in partnership with agency partners, Communications, and Business Development teams to achieve stakeholder project objectives and fundraising goals.
Support the creative and content development process and manage timelines for assigned marketing plans and campaigns, including messaging, print collateral, website content, email, direct mail communications, and multimedia assets.
Monitor active cultivation and stewardship campaigns and marketing initiatives, measuring effectiveness and recommending optimizations as needed.
Coordinate with agencies and vendors to ensure campaigns are executed accurately and on schedule.
Perform print and data proofing and provide feedback and approvals as needed to support campaign execution.
Ensure compliance and consistency with WWP brand standards, messaging frameworks, visual assets, and key terminology across marketing initiatives.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support successful project execution.
Stay current on major donor, stewardship, and fundraising marketing trends, ensuring best practices are incorporated across marketing platforms.
Support, attend, and participate in WWP events, campaigns, donor engagement initiatives, and other organizational activities as required.
Effectively communicate WWP's mission, vision, purpose, and values, as well as the importance of donors, supporters, and partners, in public forums, events, and fundraising campaigns.
Provide general project support for the Marketing – Business Development team.
Attend and actively participate in required training and/or meetings, including but not limited to New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team based training, or departmental huddles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong editing and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Knowledge of donor engagement, fundraising communications, and relationship-based marketing principles.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and tasks, meet deadlines, and effectively coordinate complex projects.
Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, agencies, and external partners.
Ability to evaluate marketing performance and apply insights to optimize campaign effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options, and recommend effective solutions.
Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and assume responsibility for assigned work.
Service-oriented mindset with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
Resourceful, organized, dependable, and efficient, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

EXPERIENCE
Requirements
Four years of marketing experience.
Two years of experience managing and executing omnichannel marketing campaigns and/or partner/client activations.
Preferences
One year of nonprofit experience focused on fundraising or account management.
One year of experience using project management software.
EDUCATION
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, advertising, marketing, communications, business, or related field. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

For Colorado Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $60,211 - $75,264 annual base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
For Chicago, IL, San Diego, CA, and Washington State Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $65,945 - $82,432 annual base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
For Washington, D.C. Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $68,812 - $86,016 annual base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
For New York, NY Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $71,680 - $89,600 annual base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
