Job Summary
The Manager, Investments FP&A will lead the team responsible for compiling analysis to support underlying Statutory and GAAP investment portfolio results and communicating those results to senior management. This position will be responsible for delivering value-added business analysis and meaningful financial metrics as it relates to the investment portfolio in support of enterprise-wide decision-making and has a comprehensive understanding of key portfolio performance drivers.
The Manager, Investment FP&A will report directly to the Investment FP&A leader and will have direct reports. This position will work closely with the other teams within the Investments function, multiple areas within Finance (primarily Investment Accounting, FP&A, and Financial Reporting) and our third-party asset managers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide timely output of data, analytics and insights that articulate a clear understanding of the results of the Company’s investment portfolio.
- Manage the team through the execution of existing processes to deliver investment results to the Investment Committee, Investor Relations and Rating Agencies
- Provide guidance and leadership in the creation of more scalable processes that support broader organizational goals.
- Collaborate and assist Investments FP&A Leadership on developing the narrative for investment portfolio performance and the design and delivery of investment results for executive-level presentations, ensuring alignment with corporate FP&A strategy.
- Collaborate with other areas of Finance and Investments on how to improve upon the integration of various data sources that will support more efficient and streamlined analysis
- Lead and mentor the team to ensure production of deliverables are completed timely and accurately.
- Collaborate with other areas of the organization to understand the needs for additional ad-hoc investment results
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in investment accounting, investment reporting and/or financial planning & analysis required.
- Prior experience supervising or managing a team.
- Experience with GAAP and statutory accounting for insurance company general account portfolios preferred.
- CPA, CFA and/or MBA preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Advanced Statutory and GAAP accounting and reporting knowledge for limited partnerships, fixed income investments, and structured securities.
- Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.
- Strong computer knowledge including high level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity and knowledge of SQL, Tableau and Alteryx a plus
- Strong experience with accounting subledger and ledgers, investment data, databases and report writing.
- Ability to handle multiple complex tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate with other teams, challenging current processes and driving efficiencies.
