The role:

We are currently seeking a Manager, External Communications, to drive strategic public relations initiatives for the firm’s REMS business line and global Industries. The position includes the development, implementation, and measurement of external communications programs and requires supporting multiple stakeholders and managing the development and delivery of critical project deliverables.


The ideal candidate is a highly detail-oriented, forward-thinking professional who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines. This role will report to the Director of Global Occupier Public Relations.

 

Responsibilities: 

External Communications 

  • Understand and clearly articulate Global and Americas goals and objectives in relation to REMS’ mission, values and strategic direction in all communications as appropriate to the audience.

  • Contribute to Public Relations strategies that support REMS and priority industries, aligning with JLL’s overall brand positioning.

  • Drive programming for content development, proactive media relations, conference participation, speaking opportunities, earned media, and award submissions.

  • Develop and advise JLL leaders on communications program messaging, priorities, and business narrative.

  • Build media relationships with targeted publications, potentially in collaboration with an external agency or agencies.

  • Identify creative and innovative ways to convey the JLL story and bring our JLL “big themes” to life through REMS and Industries stories/messaging and in collaboration with clients.

  • Identify and develop a bench of spokespeople in key topic areas who can speak on behalf of the JLL brand and help shape and promote thought leadership / external content in those areas.

  • Effectively extend content into demand generation efforts led by marketing and internal communications, as appropriate.

  • Incorporate analytics and metrics in planning and evaluation of external communications activities, taking a data-driven approach to communications efforts and counsel.

  • Support reactive media relations as needed, including crises related to reputation management.

  • Develop a deep understanding of commercial real estate industry and JLL’s businesses, capabilities, clients and results.

  • Provide additional ad hoc counsel on other business line programs that also sit within the larger Work Dynamics communications team.

  • Develop and execute content for JLL’s digital and social media channels – including LinkedIn and JLL.com – to support communications objectives. 

  • Evaluate external speaking engagements and media opportunities.

  • Contribute to reporting efforts for external communications initiatives.

  • Partner with internal shared services teams for select projects involving design, metrics, and media monitoring. 


Relationship Management 

  • Develop relationships with key contacts at all levels of JLL’s business. 

  • Manage productive relationships with internal partners to the business (such as marketing, research, internal communications, brand, digital, etc.) at regional, national, and global levels. 

  • Develop relationships and lead programs with leaders across the JLL business, advising and collaborating with them as appropriate.

 

Candidate profile:

5 years overall experience that contributes to a well-rounded strategic communications background. Key attributes and skills include:

  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills

  • Proven track record of working effectively in fast-paced environment and successfully managing multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues around the world and at all levels

  • Creative problem solver and self-starter with demonstrated agility, initiative and “can-do” attitude

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, journalism or related field

  • Marketing, external communications and/or journalism experience

  • Commercial real estate industry experience helpful but not preferred

  • Background working in a matrixed organization preferred

  • Experience managing multiple communications channels and reaching disparate audiences

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and prioritization skills 

  • Strong stakeholder management skills

  • Understanding of and commitment to client service

  • Provide additional ad hoc counsel on other business line programs that also sit within the larger Work Dynamics communications team.

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

84,600.00 – 114,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
