The MongoDB Communications team is looking for a strategic and versatile communications professional to serve as our Manager, Executive Communications. This role will support executive communications efforts across the entire company, and be a strategic partner for both internal and external storytelling.
Reporting to the Director, Executive Communications, you'll work in close partnership with Corporate Communications, Product Communications, Analyst Relations, Employee Communications, Social and Influencer, and various Marketing teams, as well as directly with our executives and their offices. Executive Communications is a newly formed, company-wide, programmatic function, so this is a build role as much as a delivery one: you’ll help shape how the program runs while running it.
This role is based in the U.S., with hybrid or remote options available. Occasional travel will be required.
Position Expectations- Serve as the day-to-day communications partner to a portfolio of senior executives and their teams, developing and maintaining their point of view, messaging pillars, and external platform over time
- Write in multiple executive voices across formats: internal and external events, keynotes and talk tracks, social, bylines, internal memos, customer and partner correspondence, and briefing materials
- Own comms playbooks for recurring executive moments — org changes, all hands, launches, earnings, exec transitions, and crisis — building and running a repeatable system
- Partner with executive offices (chiefs of staff and EAs) to turn business context into narrative, and to build the intake, prep, and review rhythms that make executive support predictable and workable for each unique office.
- Build AI into the work: use and help design the tooling that accelerates research, voice capture, drafting, and briefing prep, so a small team can serve a large executive bench
- Partner with the AEO/GEO team to make our executives’ ideas discoverable and credible in a world where audiences get answers from LLMs and agents, not just search and press
- Identify and prepare executives for the right rooms and stages, working with Corporate Comms, Product Comms, Analyst Relations, Social, and the events and keynote teams to secure and support those opportunities
- Monitor industry news, competitive activity, and the conversations our executives’ peers are shaping, and translate that into proactive opportunities
- Measure and report on influence: whether ideas travel, whether executives reach the audiences that matter, and whether the narrative shows up in the rooms where decisions get made
- 6+ years in communications, with meaningful time spent writing for and advising senior executives at a high-growth technology, enterprise software, SaaS, or cloud company
- Exceptional ghostwriting range — the ability to pick up a voice quickly, hold it consistently, and translate complex technical and business concepts into language people remember
- Experience building executive thought leadership platforms, including speaking, social, and bylines, with a track record of placements and moments you can point to
- Sound judgment and discretion with confidential and sensitive material, and the credibility to push back on a senior executive when the message isn’t landing
- A systems mindset — you build repeatable playbooks, briefs, and intake processes rather than running every request as a one-off
- Fluency with AI tools and genuine curiosity about using them to scale a small team’s output, with a clear eye for where human judgment is non-negotiable
- A data-informed approach to measuring communications impact, and comfort being measured on influence rather than reach
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across comms, marketing, events, and executive offices
- Comfort operating with a high degree of ambiguity, shifting priorities, and a function that is still being built
