The Marketing Analytics team is a newly formed group responsible for measuring guest behaviors and marketing effectiveness across the organization.  Guest analytics encompasses evaluation of historical behavior trends by guest segment and development of insights and models to help inform marketing decisions at a guest segment level.  Marketing effectiveness analytics involves assessing the impact of marketing spend and developing insights to help inform marketing decisions at a program and channel level.

The primary purpose of the Manager of Data Governance & Data Management position will be to establish and enforce data integrity across the customer database and help develop/inform key reports and metrics to drive company performance. The role will be a critical connection between technology and business and will support the company’s efforts to leverage our data assets more effectively. Ideal candidates will have detailed database knowledge, a broad understanding of analytics and experience defining and implementing Data Governance practices.

  • [Design] Be a key participant in the re-imagining of the enterprise’s customer database. Drive the development of the table structures, data rules and environment that will support the company’s analytic marketing efforts and vision. Define the data model and taxonomy to catalogue content, including meta-data repository management.
  • [Standardization] Develop data standards for guest and transactional data across the organization.  Create documentation around usage policies, data standards, requirements, guidelines and data definitions. Assess the guest and transactional data repositories for compliance with data governance policies and standards.
  • [Data Stewardship] Act as a business data steward by promoting integrated data strategies across domains and driving the standard use of data through common processes and definitions.  Identify opportunities for data improvement and provide risk assessments related to guest and transactional data quality concerns.
  • [Partnership] Identify/recruit functional data stewards throughout the organization and collaborate with them on maintaining data quality.  Partner with analytical and technology leadership to ensure the data infrastructure is in place to evaluate and drive marketing effectiveness. Act as the primary contact between departments for identifying and resolving guest and transactional data issues.
  •  [Data Quality] Share quality perceptions & facts about guest and transactional data. Define quality metrics and thresholds and audit guidelines. Evaluate business cost and lost opportunities due to poor data quality to evaluate ROI of data quality investment decisions.  Define, prioritize, measure and correct data quality issues.
  • [Privacy & Compliance] Monitor and promote adherence to usage, access and data/information sharing policies pertaining to guest and transactional data across the organization
  • [Data Analysis] Analyze and organize the data available to the business.  Inspect, clean, understand, and transform data while keeping the big picture of the business model in mind and analyze with focus and purpose to transform quality data into an asset.
  • [Testing] Support testing & validation of data enhancements and development from the technology organization.
  •  [Knowledge Base] Establish and maintain an enterprise data asset map and data dictionary

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in related field (Business, Technology, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or Mathematics) required
  • At least 3-5 years prior data management experience required
  • Strong organizational and project management skills are essential. Must be able handle multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate across multiple functions within an organization.
  • Previous experience with development and maintenance of business data models, functional data requirements, data accessibility, data quality and governance and consistent and effective alignment in the understanding of the data elements between Systems and the various lines of business.
  • Highly proficient/advanced skills within MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Word)
  • Advanced experience with analytic tools/software such as SAS, SPSS, MS Access, MS Excel, Cognos
  • Understanding of data management and data modeling principles and experience from real world implementations. Understanding of data management systems and data repositories including data warehouses, data marts or business intelligence environments. Understanding and strong awareness of pragmatic data quality and data governance policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Candidates must be highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Experience with customer and transactional data and teams focused on analyzing and interpreting customer data, interpreting results and formulating recommendations for various functional areas of a marketing organization
  • The ideal candidate will have a balanced skilled set including broad business knowledge, data management/BI understanding and facilitation/communication and negotiation skills.
  • Hospitality or travel industry experience helpful but not required; broad marketing experience in a company driven by analytics.
  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication, adjusting message to audience.  Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
