About Telnyx

Telnyx is an industry leader that's not just imagining the future of global connectivity—we're building it. From architecting and amplifying the reach of a private, global, multi-cloud IP network, to bringing hyperlocal edge technology right to your fingertips through intuitive APIs, we're shaping a new era of seamless interconnection between people, devices, and applications.

We're driven by a desire to transform and modernize what's antiquated, automate the manual, and solve real-world problems through innovative connectivity solutions. As a testament to our success, we're proud to stand as a financially stable and profitable company. Our robust profitability allows us not only to invest in pioneering technologies but also to foster an environment of continuous learning and growth for our team.

Our collective vision is a world where borderless connectivity fuels limitless innovation. By joining us, you can be part of laying the foundations for this interconnected future. We're currently seeking passionate individuals who are excited about the opportunity to contribute to an industry-shaping company while growing their own skills and careers.

The Role

Telnyx is looking for a Business Development Manager to lead our team of 10 BDRs, reporting to the VP of Sales. You'll inherit a high-performing team mid-flight, not build one from scratch. Your job is to earn trust fast, maintain momentum, and raise the bar.

The BDR org is the front door to Telnyx's sales pipeline. You'll own hiring, onboarding, coaching, and operations — with a direct impact on pipeline generation for our Account Executive teams across AMER.

We run an AI-augmented sales org. You'll be expected to leverage AI tools for prospecting automation, account prioritization, and workflow optimization — not as a buzzword, but as a daily operating reality.

Responsibilities

Inherit & Lead

  • Take ownership of an existing team of 10 BDRs, building trust and credibility quickly
  • Establish your leadership rhythm: 1:1s, team standups, pipeline reviews, and coaching sessions within your first 30 days
  • Assess team strengths and gaps; build tailored development plans for each rep

Hiring & Onboarding

  • Lead end-to-end hiring as the team grows, assessing for skill, coachability, and culture fit
  • Own the BDR onboarding experience — new hires ramp to full productivity within 60–90 days
  • Partner with Sales Enablement to refine onboarding frameworks and track ramp metrics

Coaching & Career Development

  • Develop A-players into Senior BDR roles and eventual AE candidates through structured career pathing
  • Build targeted coaching plans for developing reps — 1:1 coaching, call reviews, peer learning, and real-time feedback
  • Deliver hands-on training in cold calling, cold email, LinkedIn outreach, objection handling, and consultative discovery
  • Coach to MEDDPICC methodology — we're rolling this out org-wide and BDRs need to qualify accordingly

Pipeline Operations

  • Own BDR activity metrics, conversion rates, and pipeline contribution dashboards
  • Continuously optimize outbound sequences with data-driven A/B testing and messaging refreshes
  • Leverage AI tools to automate research, prioritize accounts based on intent signals, and reduce administrative overhead
  • Maintain CRM hygiene standards — clean data in, clean data out

Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Sales Directors — align on ICP, lead handoff criteria, and territory strategy
  • Product Marketing — ensure messaging consistency and competitive positioning in outreach
  • Sales Enablement — reinforce product knowledge and continuous learning programs
  • Sales Ops — streamline BDR workflows, tooling, and reporting
What we are looking for
  • 3+ years managing a BDR or Inside Sales team, ideally 8+ reps
  • Telecom, CPaaS, or AI sales experience — you need to speak the language from day one
  • Demonstrated ability to coach outbound tactics: cold calls, email prospecting, social selling
  • Strong operational mindset — you think in systems, dashboards, and process improvement
  • Experience inheriting or turning around an existing team (not just building from zero)
  • Technical aptitude to master Telnyx's platform and teach it credibly to your team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MEDDPICC, Challenger, SPIN, or similar sales methodologies
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted sales workflows (intent data, automated sequencing, AI research tools)
  • Mobile, Wireless, or IoT sales experience across industries
  • Track record of developing BDRs into successful AEs
  • Strong network in the CPaaS/telecom space
