Job Description:
Microchip Technology Inc. has an Applications Engineering Manager opening based in Austin, Texas or Chandler, Arizona to join the Communications Business Unit to lead the US-based technical support team for our high performance 64-bit RISC-V MPUs. The candidate will be responsible for generating, managing, and maintaining a suite of software design collateral for Microchip’s latest SoC/MPU device.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with Tier 1 OEMs in the Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Industrial and Communications sectors to define requirements, manage deliverables, and support initial design bring-up to full production
Able to work independently, yet in a team environment
Willing to travel to work on-site at large corporations to debug software, and firmware while under tight deadlines
Work closely with cross-functional teams to support customers
Have a key focus on assisting the customer ramp to production
Own the responsibility of providing technical support for customer post-production products
Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in EE, CS, or CE
Minimum 12.5 years professional experience, ideally with high-performance, embedded multicore processor / SoC / MPU
Lead and mentor a technical support team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment
Proficient in C and/or C++ programming, with demonstrated experience in debugging complex software systems and driver level experience helpful
Demonstrated ability to use AI-based tools to assist in software development and debugging
Create, update, and deliver technical training materials to address evolving customer and product needs
Develop sample applications for demonstrating various capabilities of Microchip's MPUs
Experience working with compilers and debuggers, build tools, and building open-source applications for Linux, VxWorks or RTOS
Experience with RISC-V, MIPS or ARM based embedded processors
Experience with scripting (Python, Perl, TCL, etc)
Experience working with Marketing and Sales teams
Customer facing experience
Strong teamwork, communication, and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Management or team lead experience
Experience with Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe, TSN, functional safety, fault tolerant MPU architectures, processor software stack and ecosystem
