Legal Editor – Criminal & DUI Law

Our Legal Editor position is for a lawyer with natural writing and editing ability, careful attention to detail, and a talent for taking complex legal issues and making them accessible to the layperson. You will join a collaborative team where AI tools and process efficiencies are seamlessly woven into our daily work to support your craft. We use these innovations to streamline the creation process, freeing you to focus on what you do best: ensuring our legal content remains highly accurate, accessible, and authoritative in the modern SEO and GEO landscape.

Nolo is based in the Bay Area but is open to remote candidates prepared to travel to the office from time to time.

Responsibilities

The Criminal & DUI Law Legal Editor will:
- write and edit legally accurate, highly accessible articles for Nolo’s websites
- leverage and refine established AI workflows to drive rapid, highly accurate content updates 
- train and collaborate with freelance writers, integrating their work into our streamlined editorial processes 
- update content for accuracy, usefulness, and style, and
- contribute to other projects such as book editing and social media as a subject matter expert.

Requirements

The Criminal & DUI Law Legal Editor must have:
- excellent writing and editing skills and careful attention to detail
- a facility for writing for a consumer audience, explaining complex concepts in an easy-to-digest manner
- a forward-thinking AI mindset with a demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and naturally integrate tools into daily tasks
- a law degree from an ABA-accredited law school and no professional disciplinary history
- at least two years’ background as a practicing attorney, including experience in criminal law or DUI specifically, and
- the ability and willingness to create and edit content in additional areas of law.

We expect the compensation for this role to start at $80,000 and depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
