Technical Enablement Learning Experience Designer

Position Summary
The Technical Enablement Learning Experience Designer is an experienced professional responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and continuously improving technical learning experiences that support product adoption, customer success, and business growth.
A key responsibility of this role is partnering with highly technical stakeholders to identify role-based competencies, performance expectations, and knowledge gaps. The successful candidate can quickly develop sufficient technical depth to challenge assumptions, ask meaningful questions, and translate expert knowledge into learning solutions without requiring extensive SME-created content.
The ideal candidate possesses technical aptitude, strong instructional design expertise, and experience developing technical learning solutions for software or technology products. They operate independently on complex projects, collaborate effectively across teams, and identify
opportunities to improve learning effectiveness, scalability, maintainability, and learner outcomes.
What You'll Do
Technical Learning Design & Development
• Partner with Subject Matter Experts (Sales Engineering, Professional Services, Support, Product Management, Engineering, and other technical teams) to identify role-based competencies, critical workflows, business requirements, and performance expectations.
• Independently learn complex software products and technical workflows to translate technical concepts into scalable, learner-centered learning experiences with minimal reliance on SME-created content.
• Analyze technical job roles and business outcomes to design learning objectives, learning paths, hands-on labs, simulations, assessments, and performance-based learning experiences.
• Design and develop technical learning solutions across multiple modalities, including self-paced learning, instructor-led training assets, videos, job aids, labs, assessments,
and learning pathways.
• Create supporting learning assets, including course outlines, facilitator guides, learner resources, technical documentation, and enablement materials.
• Apply instructional design best practices and adult learning principles to improve learner engagement, knowledge retention, and on-the-job performance.
• Design and validate both knowledge-based and performance-based assessments that accurately measure learner proficiency and job readiness.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with product capabilities, releases, and real-world customer scenarios.
• Manage complex learning projects with limited oversight and drive deliverables from concept through implementation.
Curriculum Ownership & Maintenance
• Own and maintain assigned portions of the technical enablement curriculum portfolio.
• Maintain course content, labs, assessments, certifications, and supporting assets to ensure alignment with current product releases.
• Partner with Product and SMEs to proactively identify curriculum updates needed for new features and platform changes.
• Support release readiness efforts through timely content reviews, updates, and
communication.
• Ensure content remains accurate, relevant, and aligned with organizational priorities.
Learning Architecture & Scalability
• Design modular learning assets that can be reused across multiple learning experiences and audiences.
• Contribute to learning path architecture, curriculum frameworks, and content governance
practices.
• Ensure content aligns with department standards for quality, accessibility, branding, and learner experience.
• Support content scalability, maintainability, and future externalization initiatives. Stakeholder Collaboration
• Partner with Product, Customer Success, Professional Services, Sales Engineering, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, validate content accuracy, and align learning solutions to business needs.
• Incorporate stakeholder feedback, balance competing priorities, and recommend solutions that support learner and organizational outcomes.
• Support facilitator readiness through train-the-trainer sessions, pilot programs, technical enablement workshops, and virtual labs as needed.
Learning Innovation
• Leverage AI-assisted content development tools to improve development efficiency, content quality, and maintenance workflows.
• Identify opportunities to improve development processes, content governance, and learner experience.
• Contribute to team standards, templates, and best practices.
• Explore emerging learning technologies and recommend innovative approaches that improve learner outcomes.
Required Qualifications
Experience
• 5–7 years of experience in technical training development, or a related field.
• Experience developing learning solutions for software, SaaS, analytics, data, cloud, or other technical products.
• Experience partnering with technical SMEs (Sales Engineering, Professional Services, Support, Product Management, Engineering, or similar functions) to identify role-based competencies and performance requirements.
• Experience designing technical learning solutions for technical audiences such as Sales Engineers, Solutions Architects, Professional Services Consultants, Support Engineers, Developers, Administrators, or similar roles.
• Experience creating hands-on labs, technical exercises, assessments, and scenario-based learning experiences.
• Experience managing complex learning projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Knowledge & Skills
• Strong instructional design and curriculum development expertise.
• Ability to define learning objectives that directly support business outcomes, role proficiency, and measurable job performance.
• Ability to understand, analyze, and simplify technical concepts for diverse audiences.
• Experience using authoring tools such as Articulate Rise, Storyline, Camtasia, or similar technologies.
• Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent written communication and content development skills.
• Strong requirements gathering, technical discovery, and stakeholder interviewing skills.
Technical Aptitude
• Ability to quickly learn, test, and demonstrate complex software products and technical
workflows with minimal reliance on SME-created content.
• Ability to deconstruct complex technical workflows and translate them into guided labs,
simulations, assessments, and performance-based learning experiences.
• Comfortable working with technical SMEs, Product teams, and Engineering partners.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate content development, research, review, and maintenance workflows while applying sound instructional design judgment.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot, validate, and improve learning activities and assessments.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience facilitating virtual technical workshops, hands-on labs, or train-the-trainer sessions.
• Experience developing software enablement or technical product training.
• Experience supporting onboarding, adoption, customer education, or enablement programs.
• Familiarity with analytics, automation, AI, cloud platforms, or developer-focused technologies.
• Experience developing certification programs and performance-based assessments.

Alteryx is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as your relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location. 

The salary range for this role in the United States is $91,000 - $116,000.

Employees may also be eligible for a wide range of other benefits, such as a bonus or commission, medical, retirement, financial, wellness, time off, employee discounts, and others.
