Lead Manufacturing Engineer

Maybell Quantum Industries, Inc. is a venture-backed quantum computing startup focused on designing and building the hardware for quantum systems. Quantum computers are going to be as important to the next 30 years as the internet was to the last 30; our team is building the hardware to make them work. We are looking for engineers who want to see their ideas and innovations become the products that define the next generation of computing. Successful candidates will have experience in a manufacturing environment and be able to get hands on, building and testing physical hardware (we’ll help you come up to speed on the quantum side of things).

Responsibilities 

  • Configure and optimize production lines for manufacturing of Maybell’s dilution refrigerators 
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians in performing hands on assembly and fabrication of complex equipment 
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes 
  • Implement manufacturing quality and organizational systems 
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts 
  • Develop work instructions and production documentation 
  • Design manufacturing jigs and equipment to improve production quality and throughput 
  • Collaborate with engineering to improve system design and DFM 
  • Build and manage aggressive production schedules 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering or equivalent field 
  • 8+ years of work experience in a manufacturing or production environment 
  • 3+ years of work experience leading a manufacturing line 
  • 3+ years of management experience 
  • Self-starter who can thrive in ambiguity with ability to drive results independently and through team members 
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills 
  • Exceptional hands-on assembly and fabrication skills 
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills 
  • Strong CAD & mechanical design skills 
  • Team player with strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong safety-oriented mindset 

 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Experience in any of the following areas: vacuum systems, leak checking, thermal systems, brazing, welding, valves, pumps, pneumatics 
  • Experience in managing quality systems 
  • Machine shop and fabrication skills 

Base salary:  $115,000/yr - $145,000/yr
