Position Title

Lead HR Compliance Coordinator
Location

This position is available to Virginia residents as Richmond & Lynchburg, VA in office applicants as well as remote applicants residing in states/locations under Eastern or Central Standard Time: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia or Wisconsin.

* A Hybrid schedule of both Remote and In-Office days would be required if you reside within 50 miles of a Genworth | CareScout office. In office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with working hours targeting our core business hours of 9am-6pm EST.

Your Role
As a Human Resources team member, you’ll help shape the culture and associate experience that enable us to do our best work in serving our customers, communities, and each other—now and in the future.

As a Lead HR Compliance Coordinator, you will support compliant hiring practices and a strong candidate experience. This role is ideal for an early-career professional who is organized, detail-oriented, curious, and eager to grow in Human Resources. You will support pre-employment compliance programs, including background screening, conflicts of interest reviews, vendor management, and compliance operations, while using data to identify trends, inform decisions, and improve processes.

The successful candidate leverages AI and other technology tools to improve productivity, enhance reporting, automate routine tasks, and strengthen process quality.
Through partnerships with Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, Hiring Managers, Legal, Compliance, and external vendors, you will gain broad HR exposure while building foundational expertise for future growth.

What you will be doing
• Administer the pre-employment background screening process from initiation through final disposition.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for the company's background screening vendor and help maintain a productive vendor relationship.
• Review background screening reports and related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Monitor screening progress, resolve routine issues, and ensure timely completion of candidate requirements.
• Analyze compliance, screening, and vendor data to identify trends, monitor service levels, and provide insights that support decision-making and process improvements.
• Complete Form I-9 and employment eligibility verification steps for all new hires.
• Escalate potential concerns and consult with Legal, Compliance, HR Business Partners, and Talent Acquisition partners when necessary.
• Maintain confidential, detailed, and accurate records to support compliance requirements, audit readiness, and sound governance practices.
• Review candidate Conflict of Interest disclosures as part of the pre-employment process.
• Identify disclosures requiring additional review and coordinate escalations to Compliance and Legal partners.
• Track review outcomes and maintain appropriate documentation.
• Develop a working knowledge of employment laws and regulations that impact hiring and pre-employment decisions, including FCRA, EEOC, and related requirements.
• Support compliance-related processes, audits, reporting, and documentation activities.
• Assist with process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, reduce risk, and improve candidate experience.
• Partner with Finance, Total Rewards and external vendors to ensure accurate vendor invoicing, reporting, and budget tracking activities.
• Build strong relationships with Talent Acquisition, Hiring Managers, HR Business Partners, Compliance, Legal, and other stakeholders.
• Provide timely and professional communication regarding candidate status, compliance requirements, and process updates.
• Demonstrate sound judgment when handling sensitive or confidential matters.
• Contribute to a positive team environment focused on service, collaboration, and continuous improvement, while supporting broader HR Compliance initiatives such as policy governance, employee relations, global mobility, and other compliance-related programs as needed.

What you bring
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Human Development, Sociology, Business, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in HR related role (recruiting, compliance, administration)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with candidates, leaders, vendors, and partners.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and make sound recommendations.
• Ability to translate data into insights that support decisions and business outcomes.
• Strong organization and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Sense of urgency and accountability in delivering quality work on time.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Experience using AI-powered tools, Microsoft Copilot, Excel, HR systems, or other technology to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
• Natural curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with HR systems, background screening platforms, case management tools, or pre-employment compliance requirements.
• Experience using data, vendor partnerships, and cross-functional collaboration to improve processes.

 

Additional Information

National Range: 55,800-81,000

High-Cost Range (includes New York): 69,800-101,000

Disclaimer: This role is aligned to a national market-based pay range. Actual compensation will vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus incentive plan. Incentive compensation is based on individual and company performance and is not guaranteed.
