Schedule Details/Additional Information:

1st Hours verify Monday - Friday. Required to help on 2nd, 3rd and weekends as needed. Every 6-8th weekend rotation and 1-2 holidays per year. Further details to be discussed during interview.

Pay Range

$41.10 - $61.65

Major Responsibilities:

  • Works as a Cat Scan staff technologist
    •     1)Takes weekend and call rotation
    •     2)Works rotated shifts when needed
    •     3)Occasionally works shifts when there are sick call-ins and PTO requests
  • Coordinates technologists and supporting personnel with regard to schedules, work assignments, and quality improvement standards
    •     4)Prepares technologist work schedules and approves any requested changes according to department staffing, and/or personal needs with regard to week-ends, holidays, vacations, etc.
    •     5)Responsible for adjustments to staffing assignments in the event of unscheduled staff shortages; determines need for float pool personnel utilization, as well as the need for overtime approval; maintains contact with the Radiology Manager regarding staffing conditions and any adjustments necessary
    •     6)Assumes the duties and responsibilities of a staff technologist as needed, and/or as directed by the Manager
    •     7)Provides verification of Time and Attendance records to maintain complete and accurate employee records
    •     1)Counsels and disciplines asssociates within Cat Scan with the direct supervison of the Manager of Imaging Services
    •     2)Coordinates and oversees training of new employees according to department orientation policies; responsible for evaluation and/or verification of employee competency
    •     3)Attends monthly Department Lead Meetings, and provides input regarding department operations
  • Along with CT team, coordinates patient flow through the department to ensure maximum work output with the least amount of patient waiting time
    •     1)Performs venipuncture for exams using appropriate sterile technique, universal precautions, and aseptic procedures; assists physician as necessary during contrast media reaction treatment; completes necessary Contrast Media Reaction Form in an appropriate and detailed manner according to department policy; updates any known allergy history in the HIS/RIS Computer System patient information file
    •     2)Ensures proper charging of contrast media and supplies on a daily basis
    •     3)Prepares and submits incident reports as needed to ensure continuous safety and quality patient care standards according to department and hospital policies and procedures; participates in formal and informal staff training and education regarding continuous safety and quality patient care
    •     4)Acts as initial contact person for patient, visitors, physicians and/or staff with concerns, complaints or dissatisfaction; forwards all patient comments to Manager for additional follow up; makes any immediate corrections as appropriate to satisfy customer needs and documents same for Manager's review and approval
    •     5)Helps to facilitate and hold CT associates accountable for communication between ER and Main CT scanners. To maximize patient flow through appropriate equipment utilization between ER and main CT scanners during high volume times.
    •     6)Provides liaison among technical and ancillary staff, radiologists, house physicians and their office staffs, ancillary and surgical departments, nursing units, department and hospital administrators
  • With the assistance, and under the direction of the Manager of Imaging Services, develops and maintains a QA/Quality Assurance Plan
    •     1)Collects and analyzes data
    •     2)Maintains radiation safety standards
    •     3)Maintains fire safety standards; knowledge of department disaster, constantly implements universal and infectious safety standards, and attends mandatory inservices
    •     4)Recommends actions/methods for improvement in the quality of operations involving the CT Department
    •     5)Attends CQI training as appropriate, to procure additional training and knowledge to further enhance the department QA plan
  • Assures high quality Computerized Tomography Scans are submitted by technologists to ensure optimal diagnostic information is available to radiologists for accurate and complete patient diagnosis
    •     1)Evaluates CT scans and makes recommendations for improvement as needed, changes in technique, positioning, contrast amounts and monitors patient dose.
  • Maintains inventory of department supplies
    •     1)Must be familiar with par stocking approach
    •     2)Determines amount of supplies necessary and orders additional supplies as needed with approval of Manager of imaging services
    •     3)Traces orders as necessary to see whether an order has been filled; contacts appropriate personnel and/or alternative sources in the event a needed supply is out of stock or back ordered
    •     4)Inspects received orders to assure completeness
    •     5)Provides liaison with various service, equipment, and supply vendors
    •     6)Participates in annual corporate inventory control within the department by counting and recording items in inventory and verifying same with corporate personnel
    •     7)Assures that appropriate budget accounts are consulted before order placement is completed

Education/Experience Required:

  • - Maintains active IDNS License - Minimum 3 - 5 years full time experience as a Radiologic Technologist - Past supervisory experience preferred - Fully skilled in all areas of general Computerized Tomography

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • - Understanding of positioning and technique factors as in CT Protocol Books - Able to perform all common CT procedures - Good oral & written communication skills
  • - ARRT Registry(CT), (R) - IEMA License - CPR

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • - Able to respond to request to work on short notice - Flexible in starting times to meet demand - As required, must be able to transport, move, and lift patients - May require rotating shifts and alternate days - Exposed to infectious diseases - Willing to work overtime when requested - Musculoskeletal hazard from large amount of job lifting - Musculoskeletal hazard from repetitive motions
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirements: Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
