Location & Schedule

The office hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 4:30PM. This position is in-person and will report to the Lindsey Flanigan Courthouse located at, 520 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204. Flex schedule available after 6-month probation period and approval by supervisor dependent on office need and availability.

The DCC

The mission of Denver County Court is to administer justice fairly, efficiently and effectively; provide excellent customer service, and foster a positive environment where employees enjoy their work. The City and County of Denver’s third branch of government is comprised of 19 judges, 4 full-time magistrates, and 300 staff members. Case types include state, civil, small claims, traffic, criminal, and other general sessions cases within the City and County of Denver. The Denver County Court proudly serves the community and continually seeks ways to incorporate procedural fairness and evidence-based practices.

The Division

The Criminal Division is a fast-paced environment that focuses on providing exceptional customer service to citizens with complex legal matters. There are 14 courtrooms in the division, hearing cases that include charges ranging from low level municipal code violations to high level felonies. Additionally, the division has two specialty courts: Wellness Court and Sobriety Court, and Outreach Court which alternates between the Denver Public Library – Central Branch and Denver Human Services. What You’ll Do 

The Denver County Court (DCC) is seeking a Judicial Assistant I to join the Criminal and General Sessions Division.

Day-to-day, as a Judicial Assistant I, you can expect to:

• Provide excellent and impartial customer service to all who access the court- via telephone, in person, and in writing

• Create and maintain an accurate court record

• Clearly and effectively explain complex legal processes to customers with various needs

• Perform a variety of clerical functions, including: cashiering, fulfilling record requests, filing motions, delivering mail, and processing applications for community service and payment plans

• Provide input on process improvement to coworkers and the leadership team

• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus (not required)

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Possess the ability to perform as an integral part of a team

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.

• Experience:  Two (2) years of clerical experience.

• Equivalency:  Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
