Job Description:

Microchip Technology Inc. has an Intern-Engineering (Product and Test) position based in Austin, TX.  The successful candidate will work in a team with experienced semiconductor product and test engineers performing new product qualification and releases, test solution development, manufacturing cost reductions, and manufacturing improvements for various Timing ICs such as SyncE/1588, Clock Distribution and Frequency Synthesizers.

Responsibilities:

Working with experienced product and test engineers, you will:

  • Own a project from initial concept to finished implementation

  • Support testing activities and operation of automated test equipment for customer sampling, characterization, correlation, qualification, and customer returns

  • Provide statistical analysis of production and engineering test data

  • Write and verify test program scripts

  • Conduct IC stress evaluations

  • Debug test hardware and software

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year engineering program such as Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with at least a Junior class standing, and have career interest in the semiconductor industry

  • General knowledge of semiconductors, characteristics of semiconductor devices, and statistics

  • Self-motivated, professional, able to work independently, excellent communication and presentation skills, and ability to excel in a multi-disciplinary team environment across multiple locations

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with use of the standard MS-Office applications: Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, meters

  • Experience programming (C, Python, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience debugging electronic circuits
