The Commercial Innovation Analyst serves as the dedicated business product owner and innovation partner for assigned Commercial products, platforms, and business capabilities. Acting as the bridge between Commercial stakeholders and IT Product Engineering teams, this role translates business priorities into executable work and manages initiatives through the innovation lifecycle.
The Innovation Analyst is responsible for intake, business analysis, requirements definition, business case development, testing coordination, rollout planning, adoption support, and value realization. In addition, the role proactively identifies opportunities for AI adoption, process improvement, and technology innovation within assigned business areas.
ResponsibilitiesProduct Ownership & Business Partnership
- Serve as the dedicated Commercial product subject matter expert for assigned capabilities.
- Build strong relationships with Commercial leaders to understand business needs, priorities, and future opportunities.
- Represent the voice of the business throughout discovery, prioritization, development, testing, and deployment activities.
Intake & Business Analysis
- Facilitate discovery sessions and capture business requirements.
- Document business processes, future-state workflows, and solution requirements.
- Develop business cases, ROI assessments, and success metrics.
- Support prioritization decisions through data-driven analysis.
Portfolio & Backlog Management
- Manage assigned innovation initiatives through the innovation operating model.
- Maintain backlog health, initiative status, dependencies, and stakeholder communication.
- Coordinate with Product Engineering teams to ensure requirements are refined and delivery-ready.
Testing & Delivery Support
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) planning and execution.
- Coordinate pilot programs and rollout activities.
- Validate solution effectiveness against business requirements and expected outcomes.
Change Management & Adoption
- Develop communications, training plans, and adoption strategies.
- Support successful implementation and business readiness.
- Measure utilization, adoption, and realized benefits following implementation.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities for AI, automation, and process improvement.
- Evaluate emerging technologies relevant to assigned business areas.
- Share best practices and innovations across Commercial teams.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Operations, Marketing, Technology, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of experience in business analysis, product ownership, product management, process improvement, project management, commercial operations, technology implementation, or related disciplines.
Experience gathering business requirements, documenting processes, and translating business needs into actionable solutions.
Experience working with cross-functional teams supporting technology or business transformation initiatives.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Experience developing business cases, ROI analyses, KPI frameworks, and implementation plans.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to identify opportunities and support recommendations.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Experience serving as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Systems Analyst, Continuous Improvement Leader, or similar role.
Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and product development practices.
Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), change management, and business readiness activities.
Experience implementing AI, automation, CRM, digital platforms, business intelligence tools, or workflow technologies.
Lean Six Sigma, Agile, Scrum Product Owner, Project Management, or similar certifications.
Experience in commercial operations, customer experience, sales, marketing, loyalty, digital products, or revenue management environments.
Experience working within highly collaborative, matrixed organizations where influence and partnership are critical to success.
