The Ohio State University College of Optometry seeks a temporary Health Systems Administration Transition & Training Consultant to provide specialized knowledge transfer and transition support following the departure of the College's Health Systems Administration Analyst.

The primary purpose of this temporary assignment is to facilitate the successful transition of Compulink EHR administration and management. Sharing of knowledge and training on the processes, procedures, and technical practices to the employee assuming responsibility for these functions. The consultant will work with the incoming employee, the Associate Dean for Clinical Services, and College IT leadership to provide training, orientation, documentation, and transition support based on established Compulink EHR systems, processes, and workflows.

This is a temporary transition and training assignment. Work will be virtual and is expected to average approximately 6 hours per week, as needed, and hours may vary based on the needs of the transition. Work may not be required every week.

The assignment is intended solely to support knowledge transfer, training, documentation, and transition activities associated with the clinic EHR administration functions. The assignment will conclude no later than November 26, 2026, unless ended earlier by the College.

The consultant is not expected to assume the full scope of ongoing responsibilities associated with the former full-time Health Systems Administration Analyst position.

The Health Systems Administration Transition & Training Consultant will provide specialized training and knowledge transfer related to the College of Optometry's Compulink EHR environment and systems administration functions.

The consultant will:

  • Provide one-on-one and/or small-group virtual training to the incoming health systems administration employee on College-specific systems, technology environments, processes, procedures, and workflows.
  • Transfer institutional and technical knowledge necessary for the incoming employee to assume responsibility for health systems administration functions.
  • Explain existing systems configurations, dependencies, integrations, support processes, and operational considerations relevant to the clinic’s EHR technology environment.
  • Demonstrate established procedures for system monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, security practices, and related systems administration activities, as appropriate.
  • Provide orientation to relevant College, University, and technology-partner relationships, including key contacts, escalation procedures, vendors, and support resources.
  • Review existing documentation and identify areas where additional clarification or documentation would support a successful transition.
  • Develop or update transition documentation, job aids, process guides, system reference materials, and other resources needed by the incoming employee.
  • Provide context regarding historical system decisions, known issues, recurring problems, system dependencies, and other institutional knowledge that may not be fully captured in existing documentation.
  • Support the incoming employee in understanding appropriate troubleshooting and escalation procedures.
  • Answer questions and provide clarification as the incoming employee assumes responsibility for assigned systems and processes.
  • Coordinate with the Associate Dean for Clinical Services and College IT leadership to identify and prioritize critical knowledge-transfer activities during the temporary assignment.
  • Perform other transition and training-related duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Clinical Services.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Pay Range: $22.93 - $29.95

Salary will be based off of education, experience, internal equity, and budget allowance.
