The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for a variety of HR related duties such as hiring and onboarding all student and non-student hourly employees; providing administrative search support for job requisitions and postings; entering and tracking leave in the HCM system; processing, tracking, and maintaining personnel information and records; responding accurately to general HR inquiries while ensuring strict confidentiality; and providing back-up HR support to our existing HR team. This position liaises with other HR services, the Graduate School, and student employment to ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations and policies. This position formally reports to the College of Liberal Arts Senior HR Manager. Successful candidates will be highly organized, detail-oriented team-players with a strong internal customer-service focus. This position will start fully in-office and may have the option to be hybrid in the future.
This role may primarily serve the College of Liberal Arts and will have the opportunity to support additional campus human resources teams.

Job Duties
- Support employees, supervisors, and applicants by responding timely to routine HR questions and escalating complex issues.
- Oversee processes for all student hourly, graduate student, and non-student hourly new hire appointments, including collaborating with and advising hiring managers, creating job postings, submitting information into HCM system, initiating background checks, processing new hire data such as I-9s, onboarding new hires, advising leaders on supervision tasks, monitoring time entry in the HCM, and offboarding students.
- Coordinate and support recruitment activities, including posting positions, managing applicant workflow, coordinating interviews, maintaining search documentation, and ensuring compliance with university hiring procedures.
- Track all onboarding processes for assigned unit employees, assist with tracking contract or continuing faculty promotion eligibility, assist faculty promotion dossier compilations, back-up key manager, monitoring and maintain employee personnel files and electronic records in accordance with university and regulatory requirements.
- Process personnel transactions and appointment updates in HCM system.
- Track, enter, and audit employee leave records; communicate with employees and supervisors regarding leave balances and procedures; escalate complex leave issues.
- Special projects and or other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: Two (2) years of HR or administrative experience, which may include hiring, payroll, onboarding, or updating employee data.
OR
Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or HR or administrative experience, which may include hiring, payroll, onboarding, or updating employee data, equal to two (2) years.

- Professional experience in higher education.
