OBJECTIVE

Seeking a Christ-centered experienced High School Musical Assistant Director that will inspire, guide, teach, and shape the lives of our students while directing productions at Denver Christian School. Most importantly, he/she will help bring students closer to God while helping them become stronger performers, allowing Christ to shine through them.

TYPE: Seasonal, Part Time, primarily after school hours.

REPORTS TO: Performing Arts Director

EXPECTATIONS

Performing Arts is one of the many means of discipleship DC uses to bring students to a deeper relationship with Christ. Participating in a show provides opportunities for students to grow in their walk with Christ by experiencing struggles, failure, success, and relationships through a Biblical framework. Assistant Directors are the primary guide throughout this process. At all times, coaches should represent Christ, the school, and themselves in a way that honors God. Assistant Directors are called to teach their students to do the same. In addition to discipleship, coaches must demonstrate excellence in their field and a growth mindset to be ever improving.

  • Employee should have a clear profession of their faith in Christ and a discipling attitude.
  • Employee must have demonstrated knowledge of their role either as a director, music director, assistant director, choreographer or other role they may be hired as.
  • Employee must meet the requirements found in the performing arts and employee handbook.
  • Employee must have a view of performing arts consistent with the Denver Christian Performing Arts program, as outlined in this document.

 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Calendar and schedule coordination with the production team
  • Flexibility as cast needs arise and specific schedule changes are made
  • Frequent and consistent communication with the production team and the Performing Arts Coordinator
  • Come to rehearsal planned and prepared in whatever role you are serving in. Submit a written plan to the Performing Arts Coordinator prior to the rehearsal process
  • Student discipleship and relationship building
  • Student safety and responsibility reminders
  • Understanding of tech week and expectations for staff and students
  • Team building coordination and bonding activities
  • Attend performances
QualificationsRequirements
  • BA degree in education or related field preferred.
  • Coaching experience at the high school level preferred.
  • Middle School and High School experience if needed depending upon opening
