As a Home Infusion Nurse, you'll provide one-on-one, skilled clinical care to patients where they feel most comfortable-at home or in an ambulatory infusion suite. In This Role, You Will:
- Learn more about our Home Infusion Pharmacy: Optum Infusion Pharmacy
- Work an average of 30-40 hours per week
- Travel within the Lawrence, Topeka to Overland Park area to deliver care in patient homes or designated sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to patient homes and related sites using a personal or rental vehicle in accordance with company travel policies
- Provide safe and compliant infusion services in accordance with Optum Infusion Pharmacy policies, protocols, and physician orders.
- Establish and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with patients and caregivers, including education on self-care and self-administration.
- Assess patient suitability for home infusion therapy, including home safety, caregiver support, and patient independence.
- Obtain and maintain accurate patient medical histories, clinical assessments, and all required documentation, including plans of care, visit notes, medication profiles, and discharge summaries.
- Deliver skilled nursing care across a range of patient ages and conditions based on physician orders and treatment plans.
- Establish, access, and maintain vascular devices, including peripheral IVs, PICC lines, tunneled catheters, and implanted ports.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses, including managing infusion reactions, vital signs, side effects, and lab collection.
- Communicate patient status and therapy response promptly with physicians, pharmacists, supervisors, and other care team members
- Assist in staff orientation and training, serving as a clinical educator and resource as requested

Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas
- Current BLS/CPR certification from AHA or Red Cross or willingness to obtain prior to start
- One or more years of RN experience in a clinical setting supporting infusion or IV therapy (e.g., ICU, Med-Surg, ED, PACU).
- Ability to work independently with strong clinical judgment and effective interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to cover an 80-mile service radius while working 30-40 hours per week
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous home infusion experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and EMR platforms
- Knowledge of Infusion Nursing Society (INS) standards
- Understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, and home infusion accreditation guidelines
- Strong communication, organization, critical-thinking, and teaching skills
