Role Description

GFiber is reimagining how networks operate—low touch, high reliability, and customer-first. As we scale our next-gen network, the Network Reliability Engineering (NRE) team ensures the infrastructure is resilient, observable, and recoverable.

We are hiring a senior leader to drive our reliability strategy across access, transport, wireless, and software-integrated systems. This role leads both the tier-2 incident response practice including metro network ownership and long-term reliability architecture. It also owns the overall health and performance of GFiber network, bringing together fault management, telemetry, and incident data to drive actionable insights and ensure customer-impacting risks are resolved with urgency and precision. The role is central to advancing automation, fault domain reduction, and operational excellence—ensuring every GFiber metro operates with industry-leading reliability.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead the NRE and Metro Engineering functions, managing teams of engineers across metro build outs and Tier-2 network incident response which includes both root cause analysis and proactive reliability improvements.
  • Own GFiber’s end-to-end network reliability strategy—including incident lifecycle, postmortem processes, KPIs, tooling, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and evolve standards for observability, redundancy, fault detection, and auto-remediation across all layers (Access, Core, Edge, Software).
  • Lead design and execution of failure simulations, chaos testing, and risk mitigation playbooks.
  • Influence vendor architectures and partner with industry forums to evolve reliability best practices in broadband networks.

At a minimum, we’d like you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 5 focused on operations, site reliability, or network reliability roles.
  • Experience managing or mentoring engineering teams and driving cross-functional outcomes.
  • Experience in incident management, telemetry design, and high-availability systems in service provider environments.
  • Experience with IP networking (BGP, OSPF, MPLS), optical transport, and access networks (PON, wireless).

It’s preferred if you have:

  • Master’s degree in a technical field or equivalent leadership experience.
  • Hands-on experience with managing incidents across hybrid networks (fiber + wireless).
  • Familiarity with network automation and observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Ansible, custom alerting systems).
  • Experience implementing SRE/NRE frameworks in production ISP environments.
  • Understanding of customer-impact modeling and SLA/SLO definitions across service tiers.
  • Experience leading RCA/postmortem processes and creating closed-loop remediation workflows.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $208,000 - $286,000 + bonus + cash award + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
