Work Arrangement:
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical/Innovation Center in Warren (MI), Mountain View (CA), Austin (TX), or Roswell (GA) three times per week, at minimum. This position can be located at any of these locations.

The Role
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced leader to join GM as a Group Product Manager, with a strong focus on people leadership, stakeholder alignment and strategic vision within global environments. This role requires a keen ability to foster relationships, navigate organizational dynamics, and lead product teams in delivering modern, innovative solutions that meet evolving customer and business needs.
As Group Product Manager, you will oversee the strategy and execution of our global vehicle inventory shopping experiences and both online and offline checkout journeys. This includes deep engagement with Dealer Management Systems (DMS), retail operations, and enabling technologies that power end-to-end vehicle sales. You will lead a team of product managers, drive the product roadmap, and guide innovation across digital and in-store channels, and ensure we are building scalable, customer-centric experiences that deliver measurable impact.

Distill nuanced problems into crisp narratives, using data and storytelling to influence senior leaders and guide strategic decision-making. Domain/Market Understanding:
Demonstrate deep expertise in vehicle shopping experiences, with a strong grasp of how inventory discovery, availability, and presentation influence customer behavior across digital and physical channels. Understand the critical role Dealer Management Systems (DMS) play in enabling end-to-end shopping and checkout experiences-ensuring accurate, timely, and actionable vehicle data powers every touchpoint. Stay ahead of market dynamics, technological shifts, and evolving customer expectations by continuously monitoring trends and behaviors. Use these insights to shape product strategy, identify emerging opportunities or risks, and ensure product decisions align with both customer needs and broader business objectives across global markets.
Vision & Strategy:
Craft and communicate a compelling, long-term product vision that aligns with GM's goals and inspires cross-functional alignment. Use written narratives as a core tool for strategy development and clarity-articulating the "why," "what," and "when" in ways that build alignment and drive confident decision-making. Coach others on the power of narrative writing to shape strategy, frame trade-offs, and create shared understanding across stakeholders. Own the strategic direction and roadmap for multiple products, ensuring they reflect customer needs, business priorities, and platform scalability. Influence broader company direction through thoughtful product leadership, enabling initiatives that deliver meaningful impact and sustained growth.
Prioritization, Trade-offs, & Sequencing:
Oversee the prioritization, trade-offs, and sequencing of work across product areas, balancing competing priorities to maximize business impact. Guide resource allocation and manage stakeholder expectations, ensuring that product decisions align with strategic objectives and deliver meaningful value to the business.
Customer-Centricity: Champion a customer-obsessed approach, creating products that deliver delightful, impactful user experiences rooted in customer needs, data, and feedback. Drive a customer-centric culture within the organization, ensuring that every product decision prioritizes the customer and fosters long-term engagement and satisfaction.
Quality Management: Set and uphold high-quality standards across all products, addressing blockers and ensuring consistency throughout the development lifecycle. Establish scalable quality management practices that embed quality at every stage of the product process, enabling high performance and reliability across product offerings.
Launch Success/Go-to-Market: Lead successful product launches by orchestrating all go-to-market efforts, from strategic planning to seamless execution. Define comprehensive launch strategies that align with marketing, sales, and overall business objectives, ensuring impactful releases that enhance brand perception and customer satisfaction.
Data, Measurement, and Optimization: Develop and maintain robust systems for tracking product performance, leveraging data to make informed decisions and optimize for long-term success. Implement continuous measurement and optimization processes across product lines, ensuring improvements are driven by data insights and aligned with strategic business goals.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Design, Engineering, Business, or equivalent
  • 7+ years of product management experience focused on software or digital platforms with very complex and configurable products
  • 3+ years of direct management experience and/or experience in indirectly mentoring and managing a team.
  • Experience managing or mentoring a team of product managers
  • Experience in modernizing digital products and enhancing user experiences
  • Strong technical acumen with a deep understanding of software development processes
  • Must be a strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Master's degree or higher
  • 3+ years of experience managing a team of product managers
  • Vehicle Shopping Experiences
  • Knowledge of eCommerce and/or Digital Retal Products to include Shopping, Checkout, and Inventory solutions
  • Technical acumen in building retail experiences
  • Knowledge of 3D imagery and/or Immersive Experience with digital products highly preferred
  • Global product management experience

Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.
  • The salary range for this role is $168,000 - $258,800 The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Company vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, though which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
