Job Description

The Gondola Ranger is responsible for providing on-mountain first aid and transportation of injured guests to definitive medical care. Rangers are also responsible for ensuring all trails are marked and maintained to the highest standards in order to provide a fun and enjoyable experience for our guests and employees.  Successful candidates should be willing to share their passion for outdoor recreation in our mountains on a daily basis. This position reports to the Patrol Director.  

  • Applications for this role will be considered on a rolling basis.

Essential Job Functions/Key Job Responsibilities 

  • Strong guest service attitude; consistently greeting and engaging guests to promote a positive guest experience 
  • Ability to comfortably walk/hike on blue and black terrain 
  • Possess excellent problem-solving skills that allow for efficient and effective resolutions for guests 
  • Participate in lift evacuation, and be actively working toward aerial evacuation and high angle rescue certifications 
  • Ability to perform routine trail maintenance 
  • Administer first aid and transport injured guests as needed 
  • Ability to drive off-road vehicles on steep, narrow, and off-camber terrain or aptitude to learn 
  • Operate dispatch and radio systems using clear and concise language 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements  

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Current CPR certification required 
  • Minimum of Outdoor Emergency Care or E.M.T. 
  • Experience in Patrol environment preferred  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities   

  • Demonstrates expertise in the technical aspect of the job 
  • Proficient knowledge of industry trends and best practices 
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel and must have a strong aptitude for software 
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures 
  • Ability to work in collaboration with others to achieve team goals 
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures and exercises caution when working 
  • Ability to develop strong working relationship with those contacted in the course of work 
  • Ability to notice and address small discrepancies in work or customer feedback 
  • Ability to engage with customers in a positive and helpful manner 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, completing work at a high standard 
  • Able to work in adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time 

Additional Information

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time 
  • Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions, however, some exposure to outdoor elements and or walking on slippery/uneven surfaces may be required 
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
