Job Title: GIS Analyst
Location: Remote or On-Site in Montrose, CO
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: GIS Director

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient GIS Analyst to support our fiber optic network planning, construction, and operation efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience working with geospatial data and tools to manage, analyze, and visualize fiber network assets. This role is critical in maintaining data accuracy, supporting field operations, and enabling data-driven decisions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update GIS datasets related to fiber optic infrastructure, including cables, splice points, conduits, poles, and service areas.
  • Support the development, deployment, and maintenance of GIS solutions used in network planning, construction, and operation.
  • Support design and planning of new fiber builds, drops, and expansions using Esri-based tools (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Enterprise).
  • Perform spatial analysis and generate maps, reports, and visualizations for engineering, construction, and leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with field crews to gather and verify field data using mobile GIS applications such as ArcGIS Field Maps or Survey123.
  • Assist in automating workflows and integrating GIS with other business systems (CRM, asset management, CAD).
  • Ensure data integrity through QA/QC processes, domain enforcement, and version management.
  • Provide GIS support for permitting, easement research, and utility coordination as needed.
  • Provide GIS training and troubleshooting support to various teams across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of professional GIS experience, preferably in telecommunications, utilities, or infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online or Enterprise, and mobile GIS workflows.
  • Ability to generate high-quality cartographic outputs and data visualizations using ArcGIS Pro.
  • Experience with geodatabase management, spatial joins, field calculations, and data editing best practices.
  • Familiarity with fiber optic network terminology and components is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read construction drawings, as-builts, and field markups.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Python or Arcade scripting in ArcGIS.

· Experience automating workflows using tools such as Model Builder, Power Automate, and Python, especially Notebooks.

  • Esri Experience Builder and Dashboards.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SQL databases, or survey/GPS data collection.
  • Understanding of fiber technologies including GPON, CWDM/DWDM, and strand-level design.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise system architecture.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
