Job Summary:
As the Generative AI Product Manager for Shopping & Content Search at Caterpillar, you will lead the development and integration of AI powered capabilities that transform how customers, dealers, and internal users discover parts, products, content, and solutions across Caterpillar's digital ecosystem.
This role focuses on delivering intelligent, contextual, and personalized search and shopping experiences-including part identification, content retrieval, AI assisted discovery, and conversational commerce-across platforms such as AI Assistant, cat.com, catdealer.com, and parts shopping experiences.
You will work closely with engineering, search relevance, content, commerce, and UX teams to design, test, and scale GEN AI driven shopping and search solutions that improve findability, reduce friction, increase conversion, and elevate the end to end customer experience.
What You Will Do:
Product Strategy & Roadmap
  • Define and evolve the GEN AI product vision for Shopping & Content Search, aligned with Caterpillar's AI Assistant strategy, eCommerce roadmap, and digital experience goals.
  • Own the product roadmap from POC to production, balancing innovation, scalability, and business impact.
  • Drive prioritization of capabilities such as:
    • AI assisted part and product discovery
    • Natural language and conversational search
    • Content understanding and semantic retrieval
    • Visual and attribute based search
    • Personalized recommendations and guided shopping

Cross Functional Leadership
  • Partner with engineering, search relevance, data science, UX, content, and commerce teams to deliver high quality AI powered discovery experiences.
  • Collaborate with Cat Digital, DPMs, and domain product teams to ensure alignment across AI Assistant, shopping journeys, and content platforms.
  • Coordinate with enterprise AI governance, privacy, and security teams to ensure compliant and responsible AI delivery.

Execution & Delivery
  • Translate customer and dealer needs into clear product requirements, acceptance criteria, and success metrics.
  • Lead experimentation, A/B testing, and relevance tuning to continuously improve search quality, engagement, and conversion.
  • Oversee integration with enterprise systems (e.g., product catalogs, content repositories, pricing, entitlements).

Technical mastery
  • Semantic agentic search applied to commerce. Experience with multimodal search, visual search, multimodal embeddings
  • Agentic commerce applied to public AI tools and Agentic commerce implemented in proprietary platforms

Measurement & Optimization
  • Define KPIs for shopping and search success, including findability, task completion, conversion, engagement, and satisfaction.
  • Leverage analytics and user feedback to iterate and optimize AI models and experiences.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders with decision grade clarity.

What You Will Have:
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Software Change Request Management: Knowledge of software change request management; ability to manage software product change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff.

Considerations For Top Candidates:
  • Strong experience in digital product management, preferably in search, eCommerce, content platforms, or AI driven experiences.
  • Working knowledge of Generative AI, search relevance, information retrieval, and conversational interfaces.
  • Proven ability to lead cross functional teams and deliver complex products at scale.
  • Customer obsessed mindset with the ability to translate user needs into impactful solutions.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, from early experimentation through enterprise rollout.

Summary Pay Range:
$112,710.00 - $183,140.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
