What impact you’ll make
As a Product Management Intern in the Gas Power Controls organization, you will help shape Controls Lifecare Services product that supports the reliability and lifecycle management of Mark VIe platform. You will assess customer and market needs, evaluate current capabilities and gaps, and translate evidence into product requirements, business cases, and roadmap recommendations. Working with product managers, engineers, commercial teams, and other stakeholders, you will gain hands-on experience across the product development lifecycle.

Job Description

Join the Controls Product Management team for a hands-on internship where your analysis will influence real product decisions. With guidance from experienced colleagues, you will own defined work products, present recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders, and build practical skills in customer discovery, requirements development, capability assessment, and business-case creation.

Employment Dates:

May or June 2027 to August 2027 (Summer).

If you are able to start in January 2027, you can be considered for a 12-week internship starting in January 2027.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct customer, market, and stakeholder discovery; synthesize qualitative and quantitative inputs to identify and prioritize unmet needs.
  • Assess current product and service capabilities against customer and business needs, identify meaningful gaps, and recommend prioritized roadmap options.
  • Translate validated needs into clear, testable product requirements, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation for Product Requirements Documents (PRDs).
  • Develop evidence-based business cases that define the opportunity, customer value, assumptions, risks, costs, and expected outcomes.
  • Research relevant industry and regulatory considerations and create lightweight prototypes, process flows, or visual concepts to help stakeholders evaluate proposed solutions, with guidance from technical and compliance experts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Economics, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Other Eligibility Requirements:

  • The required work location is Longmont, CO or Greenville, SC or - 100% onsite.
  • Must have the ability to work in the United States for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or a 4.0 on a 5.0 scale cumulative GPA (without rounding)
  • Demonstrated interest or exposure to product management, customer discovery, market research, data analysis, or requirements development through coursework, projects, internships, volunteering, or student organizations.
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools and interest in applying them responsibly to research, analysis, prototyping, or workflow automation; experience building AI agents is welcome but not required.
  • Interest in energy, industrial controls, or digital products; prior industry experience is helpful but not required.
  • Curiosity, initiative, reliability, and willingness to learn in an ambiguous, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, organize analysis, and collaborate across product, engineering, commercial, and customer-facing teams.

The pay for this position ranges from $1,000 weekly to 2,000 weekly based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed.

Employee Assistance Program: providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services
GE Retirement Savings Plan (RSP): after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day.)

This position is also eligible for:

Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
