Software Engineer, Frontend

About the Company

Troveo builds the data platform that AI labs and model builders need to train the next generation of models. We have created the world's largest licensed platform of scarce, proprietary data for AI, spanning video, audio, text, and business workflows.

Troveo indexes, enriches, and packages this high-quality data into formats ready for training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and agentic use cases. Backed by top investors, we’re a small, high-impact team solving one of the biggest bottlenecks in AI development.

Role Overview

Troveo is hiring a frontend developer to join the Applications team in Engineering.

You'll build and maintain the web applications our customers and internal teams use every day. The stack is React and TypeScript; some of it runs inside a Rails application, while the rest consists of standalone Vite and Next.js apps. We use Tailwind and Radix UI for styling and components, TanStack Query for server state, and Vitest and Playwright for testing.

How we work

You'll work across the frontend stack, collaborating with design, product, and backend engineering to ship reliable, polished applications. We value strong engineering judgment, thoughtful code reviews, clear documentation, and maintainable patterns that help the team move quickly without sacrificing quality. We also use coding agents as part of our development workflow, and you'll have opportunities to use them where they add value.

What you'll own

  • Features across customer-facing and internal apps, in both the Rails-embedded and standalone environments

  • The shared component library: adding components, keeping them documented in Storybook, and making accessibility practical rather than theoretical

  • Implementing designs from Figma with fidelity, and pushing back when the spec has gaps

  • Performance work where it matters: rendering, bundle size, large lists, and uploads

  • Test coverage: maintaining it where it exists and extending it where it doesn't

  • Investigating production issues with Sentry and PostHog

Requirements

  • 5+ years building production web interfaces in React and TypeScript

  • Strong HTML, CSS, and responsive layout skills; comfortable with Tailwind

  • Comfortable working directly from Figma files: inspecting specs, extracting tokens and spacing, and flagging inconsistencies with designers

  • Experience integrating REST APIs and handling auth, loading, empty, and error states well

  • Experience with at least one of Vitest, Jest, or Playwright

  • Familiarity with coding agents and practical judgment about when they are useful

  • Clear written communication with designers, backend engineers, and product

Bonus Points

  • Radix UI or a shadcn-style component system

  • TanStack Query, React Router, or Next.js

  • Experience integrating coding tools with a design system or component library, including Figma-to-code workflows, design tokens, or Storybook documentation

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $130,000 – $165,000 (depending on experience and location)

  • Equity: Competitive equity package in a well-funded AI startup with significant upside

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive Health Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage (100% employer-paid for employees)

  • Flexible PTO & Paid Holidays: Unlimited PTO with encouragement to actually use it

  • Remote-First Policy: Work from anywhere in the US (with occasional team offsites)

  • Learning & Growth: Annual learning stipend, access to top conferences, and direct mentorship from experienced founders

  • Equity Ownership: Competitive equity package with clear growth potential as we scale

  • Modern Tech Stack & Tools: Budget for the best equipment and software

  • Strong Culture: High-trust, low-ego environment focused on impact, transparency, and work-life balance. We believe great work happens when people are supported, challenged, and given ownership.
