We're making Africa the first cashless continent.
In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across six countries and are growing fast.
Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent and that's where you come in...
Wave is now the largest financial institution in Senegal, with over 7 million users. And, we’re still in the early days of our product roadmap, geographic expansion, and potential impact on people’s everyday lives.
We’re looking for a Finance Analyst with exceptional modeling skills to help us grow efficiently and allocate resources effectively across geographies. This role is perfect for someone who has a strong financial modeling toolkit, is interested in learning about fintech in fast-growing markets, and thrives in ambiguity.
You’ll get to combine the sharp analytical skills you built in prior roles with the chance to directly influence a company’s growth trajectory. No endless pitch books, no handing off your work to someone else — here, you’ll see your models, insights, and recommendations come to life in real decisions. You’ll become an expert on Wave’s business model and partner with operators to make financial recommendations about business planning. We are looking for someone excited to build scrappy version-one solutions in a workbook and then build out sustainable, scalable planning models in FP&A and business intelligence tools.
The ideal candidate should be highly comfortable digging into financial and operating data, figuring out where things don’t tick and tie, and uncovering insights to inform decision making.
In this role, you’ll;
- Build and maintain financial models that drive decision-making at leadership and business unit levels
- Design dashboards and reports in our EPM tool (Pigment) to surface the metrics that matter
- Work directly with Operations leads on planning, budgeting, and performance tracking
- Perform targeted analyses on financial and operational data to answer high-priority questions from leadership and functional teams
- Evaluate financial performance across countries and business units, to identify growth and cost-optimization opportunities
- Ensure accuracy, reliability, and accessibility of data while collaborating across teams to improve and expand our data resources
- 2+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, Big 4 audit, or strategy consulting with strong modeling exposure
- Advanced financial modeling skills and comfort with financial and operational datasets
- Experience with (or interest in learning) FP&A/EPM tools like Pigment, Anaplan, Aleph, Mosaic, or Abacum
- Proven ability to own projects end-to-end and deliver independently
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and communicating with both finance and non-finance leaders
- Meticulous, analytical, and driven to find answers — even when the path isn’t obvious
- Fluent in English ; proficiency in French is a strong plus but not required
- Have built or improved financial planning systems or dashboards
- Are proactive, resourceful, and comfortable operating in ambiguity
- Can switch seamlessly between high-level strategic thinking and hands-on execution
- Are curious about fintech and excited by the opportunity to build in Africa’s fastest-growing markets
