The FOIA Analyst will be responsible for managing the processing of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, ensuring compliance with FOIA laws and regulations, and facilitating the release of information in accordance with organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, review, and acknowledge FOIA requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of all incoming FOIA requests and actions taken.
  • Evaluate requests to determine scope and requirements for document search and retrieval.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of FOIA (5 U.S.C. § 552), FOIA Program, and FOIA policies.
  • Ability to review records for exemptions, redactions, and releasability in accordance with DoD and USAFA guidance.
  • Skill in conducting targeted records searches across Air Force systems, shared drives, and email repositories.
  • Proficiency with FOIA case management tools and standard USAF document workflows.
  • Ability to identify and protect PII, CUI, classified, and sensitive mission‑related information.
  • Strong technical writing skills for response letters, case summaries, and exemption justifications.
  • Experience coordinating with legal, security, and mission partners to validate search results and release decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases, track deadlines, and maintain audit‑ready documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Adobe redaction tools, and digital file preparation.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex information requests.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in document review and redaction.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining organization and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience in maintaining records and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience specifically in processing Freedom of Information Act requests at the base level; experience at the command level preferred.
