About This Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Field Finance and Payroll Specialist to join our growing team in the solar industry. This position plays a key role in managing payroll, subcontractor payments, and field financial operations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and transparency across all job sites.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in payroll or finance—preferably within the renewable energy or construction sectors—and demonstrates strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. This role supports both employee and subcontractor pay processes, ensuring our field operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Process and oversee biweekly payroll for field employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Manage subcontractor pay processes, including invoice validation, job cost tracking, approval workflows, and timely disbursements
  • Maintain accurate payroll and subcontractor payment records while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive financial and employee data
  • Review and reconcile timecards, job codes, and expense submissions for field teams and subcontractors
  • Collaborate with operations, HR, and project management to verify project completion milestones and approve corresponding subcontractor payments
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports related to field operations, labor costs, subcontractor expenses, and project budgets
  • Support compliance audits and maintain documentation aligned with company and regulatory standards
  • Assist in developing and optimizing internal processes for payroll accuracy, subcontractor accountability, and field finance efficiency
  • Provide guidance and training to field personnel on payroll submission, timekeeping, and financial policy adherence
  • Identify and resolve payroll and payment discrepancies promptly to maintain strong vendor and employee relationships

Qualifications

  • 1–2+ years of experience in payroll processing, accounts payable, or finance—experience in the renewable energy or construction industry preferred
  • Strong understanding of payroll systems, subcontractor invoicing, and job cost reconciliation
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills; able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for tracking labor costs, invoices, and reports
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external subcontractors
  • High attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and commitment to accuracy

The salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications.
