Summary

The Fabrication Associate performs hardware insertion, part finishing, and material handling in support of production across the fabrication and machine shop areas. The role moves between operations as production demands require, working from prints and work orders to keep parts moving to downstream operations at the required quality.

 Roles & Responsibilities

  • Operate PEM hardware insertion equipment to install hardware components in fabricated parts.
  • Deburr and finish parts to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Remove completed parts from laser-cut sheets and prepare them for downstream operations.
  • Provide support to Brake Press operators as needed.
  • Perform leak testing on welded assemblies to verify product integrity and quality.
  • Assist the Machine Shop with tapping, countersinking, and saw operations.
  • Deliver materials and completed parts to designated work areas.
  • Organize and store fabricated parts on appropriate racks and inventory locations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while supporting production activities across multiple departments.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a fabrication, machine shop, or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with hand and power tools, deburring equipment, or hardware insertion equipment preferred.

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Communication/Language Skills
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are a must.
    • Ability to read and comprehend documents, work orders, and simple instructions.
    • Ability to read and interpret basic prints, drawings, and part specifications.
  • Technical Competencies
    • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely, including deburring tools, taps, countersinks, and saws.
    • Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and gauges to verify parts to specification.
    • Ability to learn and operate PEM hardware insertion and leak test equipment.
    • Basic computer skills for entering production and inventory transactions.
  • Work Habits
    • Extreme attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to identify parts that do not meet specification.
    • Ability to move between tasks and departments as production priorities change.
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Must be flexible to work days, nights, weekends, or overtime as production demands require.
    • Must adhere to all safety rules, policies and regulations in relationship to OSHA and Mark VII Equipment standards, including the required use of personal protective equipment.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, push, pull, stoop, crouch, climb, reach and use hands to grip regularly.
  • Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms while operating equipment and finishing parts.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must work in a noisy shop environment with exposure to metal dust, chips, and shop chemicals.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and grooming standards as outlined.
