Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to contribute to the organization's success by performing assigned duties and responsibilities efficiently and effectively. The Excavation Support Level 2 position involves collaborating with team members, adhering to company policies, and striving to achieve both individual and collective goals. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate professionalism, maintain a positive attitude, and continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Excavation Support Level 2 person to join our telecommunications team. In this role, you will be an operator/laborer who performs a variety of tasks outdoors in all weather conditions including excavating, placing conduit, operating machinery, among other tasks. This will all be done in a safe and effective manner.

The position will report to the Excavation Support - Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Basic maintenance of assigned equipment; including but not limited to checking/refilling fluids, grease/lubricate, maintaining air filter, track tension/tire pressure, etc.
  • Perform manual labor and excavation outdoors in a variety of weather conditions using tools such as shovels, picks and rock bars.
  • Install fiber optic cable by pulling or jetting
  • Install/replace/maintain handholes, pedestals, vaults, and/or cabinets to Deeply Digital specifications
  • Assist with laying conduit for fiber optic cable; operate equipment around active fiber optic plant to facilitate the maintenance and repair of Clearnetworx assets
  • Load/secure/deliver heavy equipment and/or materials from Deeply Digital yard to jobsite and back as needed
  • Take directions from the site supervisor or construction manager and efficiently execute work requested
  • Lead and oversee a construction team when the construction manager is not available
  • Load materials and perform site set-up and clean-up
  • Restore and landscape disturbed areas of the jobsite
  • Follow all project policies and procedures in a safe, efficient and effective manner
  • May need to safely and correctly direct multi-directional traffic with appropriate signage
  • Keep alert and aware of surroundings and working hazards, wearing hardhat, safety vests, safety glasses, gloves, approved safety footwear, and seat belt

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum 2 yrs experience operating *HDD drill, excavator/backhoe, trencher, hydro-vac and telehandler (*if applying as a driller)
  • Valid Colorado or New Mexico driver’s license and clean driving record; Class A CDL or the ability to acquire
  • Read and understand plans/blueprints/staking sheets
  • Ability to see all colors
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service and great “people skills” with a team orientation
  • Dependable, self-motivated, responsible, and punctual. Consistently at work and on time
  • Willingness to travel
  • Clean and professional appearance

Physical Demands

  • Push, pull, reach and carry objects such as tools, materials and equipment weighing up to 80lbs
  • Climb up and down ladders, machinery and other objects
  • Load and unload tools and equipment on trucks
  • Coordinate movement of eyes, hands, fingers and feet
  • Most work is outdoors, subject to inclement weather
