Skylight is a technology startup based out of Los Angeles and San Francisco. Our mission is to connect loved ones by creating the world’s simplest products and services that improve family life. We make consumer products, like Skylight Frame and Skylight Calendar, that are loved by millions of people across the globe. Our founders are former venture capitalists and serial entrepreneurs, who have scaled this business to $180M+ in annual revenue while being completely bootstrapped and profitable. We think often about the thousands of smiles we are able to put on our customers’ faces each day, and it fills our hearts with purpose. That’s why we have been working hard to expand our team and invent, so that we can continue to bring the magic of Skylight to millions of loved ones throughout the world. This is the perfect role for you if you’d be proud to be the most business-oriented Engineering leader at the company, operating at the oft-overlooked intersection of Marketing and Engineering.

Here’s what that means:

You’d own complex payment infrastructure, supporting multiple payment gateways and hundreds of thousands of paying subscribers. We’re bootstrapped and profitable, and our subscription software is what allows us to continue to invest in innovation, brand-building, and the team. So you would be the “Single Head to Crown” on the revenue stream that powers this company (no pressure!).

You’d also define the future shape of our business by running rigorous AB tests of our pricing, packaging and merchandising, across our mobile app, our device, and our e-comm site. The most business-inflecting decisions we’ve made were dreamed up and AB-tested on our marketing site first, and you would oversee the infrastructure and implementation of all that experimentation.

This is a Management position.

Our ideal candidate is deeply experienced in e-comm engineering and marketing tech, but most importantly they are an empathetic leader who has deeply internalized our cultural values: Autonomy, Rigor, and Care.

Responsibilities

You will be directly responsible for all aspects of our Growth Engineering:

  • Managing engineers and cross-functional partners with empathy
  • Advocating for roadmap time to build great AB test infra and self-serve marketing tools
  • Communicating concisely and rigorously
  • Overseeing SEO (and the emergent, hazy domain of LLM SEO)
  • Building analytics and observability dashboards
  • Monitoring and improving marketing site performance

Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in e-commerce and marketing tech
  • Deep knowledge of React and Typescript
  • Obsession with statistical rigor and eradicating sample bias
  • World-class cross-functional problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate well with a fully remote team

Benefits

Our competitive compensation package includes:

  • Competitive Salary + Equity Package
  • 401K matching
  • Wellness, learning, and home-office budgets
  • Health, Dental & Vision Medical Plans
  • Tremendous autonomy to set the direction of your work
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Company holidays on the first Friday of every month (Except November & December)
