What You'll Do:
- Provide software product and process oversight of software and firmware (SW/FW) development efforts throughout the development lifecycle. Note: this is not a software test position.
- Provide process guidance and lessons learned to software/firmware development teams to ensure adherence to BAE Systems SMS requirements, program statement of work, and other contractual requirements, and ensure on-time deliveries within budget constraints.
- Document software assurance plans and tailored process definitions on a program and capture activities performed in SW Quality Engineering Reports.
- Review documentation to ensure program requirements compliance, adherence to BAE SystemsSMS and Industry standards, consistency, risk mitigation, and completeness; tracking related action items and change requests.
- Participate in reviews for SW/FW requirements, traceability matrices, design, code, and test procedures/scripts.
- Verify change tracking tickets for software, software tools, and test scripts/procedures capture required metadata and follow documented processes.
- Provide on-going verification of SW pipelines to ensure compliance with customer and company requirements for testing, code analysis, and code coverage.
- Support requirements verification testing and participate in testing meetings such as Test Readiness Reviews, Post-Test reviews, and Test Report Reviews.
- Perform software product baseline validation/audits/assessments for accuracy and completeness for software releases.
- Approve software product releases (including documentation and code) to ensure program requirements compliance, adherence to BAE SMS and required Industry standards, consistency, risk mitigation, and completeness.
- Participate in recurring program meetings such as Change Control Boards, Status meetings, and Agile ceremonies (e.g. Planning, Demonstrations, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Reviews, Scrum of Scrums, Scrum, and Retrospective meetings).
- Perform periodic process compliance assessments and make recommendations for process improvements.
- Contribute to major program milestone reviews and Management Reviews
- Audit, monitor, evaluate, and report on software/firmware subcontractor activities.
- Work with SQA (Software Quality Assurance) peers to advise and consult to ensure proper flow down of BAE SMS and contractual SQA requirements.
- Interface with software and firmware engineering, configuration management, process organizations, program management, and functional management.
- Work with Subject Matter Expert (SME) staff and more senior SQA to conceive and develop solutions to engineering management and technical problems.
- Contribute to the success of a program's execution by assuring the program's software development team(s) are aware of the available support resources such as software process documentation and tools.
- Contribute to presenting Software and Firmware product life-cycle status and adherence to process to program management and customers.
- Provide support in addressing customer expectations, report status, risks, and risk mitigation.
- Support multiple BAE Systems SMS campuses for various programs and Product Center(s) support.
- Travel to subcontractor and customer sites.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required and 2 or more years of relevant work experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Familiar with industry and government specifications & standards and the requirements contained therein that guide the design, build, & test of software such as SEI CMMI, NASA-STD-8739.8, NPR 7150.2, and AS9115.
- Familiar with Software Quality Engineering (SQE) principles, tools, methods, and standards as it applies to Aerospace. Note: this is not a software test position.
- Solid organizational and communication skills with the ability to focus on details and multi-task.
- Understanding and experience with both Waterfall and Agile life cycle processes.
- Willingness to take initiative, ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, good interpersonal and project management skills, the ability to multi-task, plan, and represent SQA in cross-functional meetings and to subcontractors and customers.
