Job Description
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. What You'll Do:

• Support physical and chemical laboratories in a variety of capabilities including sampling, sample preparation, analysis, interpretation of results, and reporting.
• Perform and support tasks including SEM, SEM-EDS, XRF, cross-sectioning, metallurgical analysis, hardness, and microscopic examination.
• Support analysis investigations into new materials for use in aerospace applications.
• Perform and support failure analysis investigations (physical, chemical, and electrical) utilizing various technologies, offer data-based root cause determination.
• Conduct routine and non-routine IPC and PWB inspections.
• Working knowledge of IPC-A-600, MIL-PRF-580, and/or MIL-STD-883 a plus.
• Maintain and repair various test equipment and apparatuses.
• Author technical reports, test procedures, and presentations.
• Perform validation studies on new methods and equipment.
• Work safely with chemicals, cryogenics, adhesives, lab instruments, hand tools, and power tools in laboratory, cleanroom, machine shop, and production environments.
• Accurately document and complete assignments in timely manner with minimal supervision.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to lab capability, efficiency, and data quality.
• Travel locally between campuses as required (Westminster, Boulder, Broomfield); Perform temporary and permanent duties at these locations as needed.
• Operate company-owned vehicles.
• Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Perform and support analysis in other laboratories including thermal testing, utilizing TGA, DSX, TMA, DMA, etc.
  • Operate and support other analytical instrumentation, including but not limited to GCMS, FTIR, etc.
  • Support electrostatic discharge testing and compliance
  • Environmental tests including vacuum, thermal cycling, elevated, and cryogenic temperature testing
  • Mix, blend, apply, cure, and test adhesives, lubricants, and other specialized materials
  • Conduct mechanical property testing at ambient, elevated, and cryogenic temperatures
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
• May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
• May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
• Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
• 2 or more years performing failure analysis of electrical components, including sample preparation and SEM inspection
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel between local sites in varying weather conditions.
• Proven interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with chemicals and equipment used in a chemical and physical testing laboratory.
• Basic computer proficiency for data entry, documentation, and instrument controls.
• Solid attention to detail and ability to work in fast paced environment.
• Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
As this position requires operating a company vehicle, an offer and subsequent employment are contingent upon possessing and maintaining a valid US driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record review.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• BS degree in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical filed plus 2 or more years related experience in a physical or chemical testing laboratory.
• Expertise knowledge of IPC-A-600, IPC-6010 series, etc.
• Expertise knowledge in failure analysis of ICs, Hybrids, capacitors, and other electrical components.
• Expertise in preparation of PWB and electrical component for inspection and investigation, including but not limited to, sample isolation, mounting, polishing, grinding, etching, etc.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of manufacture of electrical components or PWBs.
• Effective demonstrated creativity in failure investigations.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $79365 - $134921
