This is a Level 2 engineering role focused on building, owning, and improving the data platforms and integrations that power our business. You will work primarily with Snowflake, SQL, dbt, Python, and cloud-based data services to ingest, model, transform, test, and maintain business data. • Work with relational and dimensional data models for defined business processes, including understanding facts, dimensions, grain, keys, and relationships between tables.
  • Build and maintain reliable pipelines and dbt models from source to reporting layer.
  • Build shared, reusable data models and metrics that support multiple use cases rather than creating one-off or duplicate solutions.
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts and data-processing workflows.
  • Load and transform data from operational systems, APIs, and other sources into the enterprise data platform.
  • Own data quality for your pipelines through tests, monitoring, alerting, and documentation.
  • Tune queries and pipelines for performance and cost.
  • Apply and help refine team standards for data modeling, naming, keys, relationships, and data quality.
  • Document data models, pipelines, processes, and technical decisions.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the data that supports bookings, guests, trips, operations, finance, and other core business processes.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into data logic.

Software & Application Development

  • Develop small application features and internal tools under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Build and maintain integrations between applications and data systems, including REST APIs and other services.
  • Break work into small, shippable pieces and estimate it.
  • Apply best practices for Git, code review, CI/CD, and release management.
  • Write unit and integration tests as a normal part of your work.
  • Understand how your code runs in production, including monitoring and alerting.

Ownership & Autonomy

  • Work through problems on your own first. Research the issue, test ideas, and try a fix before asking for help.
  • When a decision is needed, bring the problem, the options, and your recommendation.
  • Work independently across several projects and as part of a Scrum team.
  • Own features and data products from requirements through release, including how they perform afterward.
  • Raise blockers early enough to protect deadlines.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Drive escalated tickets to resolution.
  • Identify recurring issues and automate or improve the process.
  • Work closely with senior engineers, analysts, data architects, and business stakeholders.
  • Document technical decisions, runbooks, and design notes so others can follow your reasoning.
  • Explain technical constraints, tradeoffs, and findings in plain language.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and changes in scope.

Mentoring & Team Growth

  • Help onboard new team members and Level 1 Engineers.
  • Give thoughtful code reviews and share knowledge through pairing and demos.
  • Suggest improvements to team standards and tools.

SKILLS

  • Strong SQL, including complex joins, window functions, and performance tuning.
  • Proficient in Python, including scripting and libraries such as pandas.
  • Solid understanding of relational (OLTP) and dimensional (OLAP / Kimball) data modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake or a similar cloud data platform, and with dbt or a similar tool.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, testing, and monitoring.
  • Experience with REST APIs and JSON.
  • Proficient with Git, pull requests, CI/CD, and release management.
  • Fundamental software development concepts such as functions, variables, data structures, error handling, and testing.
  • Experience supporting data systems in production.

*Experience with any of the following is a plus:

  • Data visualization or business intelligence (BI) tools
  • Data governance, access control, or data quality frameworks
  • Web application development
  • Infrastructure as code (IaC)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Analytics, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or software development.
  • Track record of delivering projects with minimal oversight, ideally on a Scrum or agile team.
  • Turns vague requests into clear requirements and plans.
  • Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
