The Engagement Manager owns multi-workstream client programs, driving day-to-day work product development and delivery while interfacing directly with executive-level client stakeholders. This individual is accountable for the quality, timeliness, and coordination of all workstreams and for ensuring deliverables meet FMI’s standards and the client’s definition of success.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Engagement Manager leads internal project teams of Analysts, Consultants, and Senior Consultants and serves as the primary day-to-day point of contact for clients. This role also contributes to account health, team development, practice growth, and business development under the direction of a Senior Engagement Manager, Delivery Principal, or Partner.

This is a full-time opportunity with potential locations in Raleigh, NC; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Tampa, FL; or remote. Travel may reach up to 50%, depending on client needs.

All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead internal project teams across multiple workstreams, establishing roles and responsibilities, setting direction on key deliverables, communicating program-level milestones, and monitoring work effort and quality across the engagement
  • Coordinate interdependent workstreams and manage resources across the engagement, including Analysts, Consultants, and Senior Consultants, while providing ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Participate in the scoping process with FMI Partners and clients to help define project scope before and after execution of the workplan contract
  • Create the client communication schedule and lead project kickoff meetings, incorporating appropriate FMI internal resources as needed
  • Develop and align the client engagement plan based on the workplan, client feedback, and scoping observations, securing agreement on the approach needed to meet both contractual scope and the client’s definition of success
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, FMI’s Client Manager, Partners, project teams, and other internal or external stakeholders throughout the engagement
  • Drive all aspects of program delivery, including timelines, executive-level client presentations, meeting facilitation, quality deliverables, and client value realization
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact, building trusted relationships and confidently leading conversations and feedback with executive-level stakeholders
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of FMI’s full suite of services and capabilities, recognizing client needs and partnering with FMI leadership to connect clients with appropriate resources
  • Actively support account health, proposal development, and business development activities that contribute to contract renewals, extensions, and broader Energy & Power practice growth
  • Mentor and develop junior team members through project leadership, delegation, coaching, and participation in internal FMI initiatives and speaking opportunities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; master’s degree preferred
  • 5–8 years of consulting experience, including at least 3 years in consulting and 2+ years focused specifically on energy and power
  • Direct experience with major capital project management, such as generation, transmission and distribution, gas transmission, or data centers, preferred
  • Operational leadership experience within a complex organization, including experience managing individuals and/or cross-functional teams
  • Advanced energy and power industry expertise across multiple client engagements, with very strong program management skills and demonstrated executive presence
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and consultative selling skills, including the ability to guide clients through strategic decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, delegate appropriately, develop others, and influence outcomes and behaviors without formal control
  • Experience driving change and influencing senior and executive leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, facilitation, and listening skills, with comfort leading conversations and providing feedback to executive-level clients
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and manage multiple deadlines, projects, client needs, and team priorities
  • Demonstrated maturity, integrity, and the ability to perform effectively both independently and as a team leader in an ambiguous environment with minimal supervision
