Department Overview
The Edge AI Solutions team is dedicated to developing and deploying intelligent solutions for Public Safety Mission-Critical portable devices that enhance the safety and security of our communities. Our mission is to empower first responders and public safety professionals with real-time, actionable insights derived from AI processing directly on devices at the edge in areas like audio processing and analytics, speech recognition and behavioural detection. Job Description

Motorola Solutions' Florida team is searching for an Engineering co-op student to join an advanced technology and product design team that is focused on wireless speech communications under a wide range of conditions, for demanding customers.

The position is a hybrid (preferable) or remote role starting January 2026 for the winter and spring quarters.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist in the development and optimization of machine learning models for deployment on embedded systems.

  • Work with hardware acceleration technologies (e.g., GPUs, TPUs) to improve model training performance.

  • Concept prototyping: Take a new AI model or design from concept to initial working model, to assess technical performance and strength of perception.

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of efficient inference pipelines for different embedded processors.

  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate model accuracy and performance.

  • Collaborate with experienced engineers to solve challenging technical problems.

  • Deploy AI models on Mobile Devices’ processors

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Python and C/C++ programming

  • Machine Learning and Deep Learning concepts 

  • TensorFlow Lite, Pytorch and ONNX experience

  • GPU model training experience

  • Experience deploying TensorFlow Lite and Pytorch models on mobile devices is a plus

  • Must be positive, open-minded, embraces challenges and can contribute to innovative approaches

  • Graduate students preferred, but Bachelors students will be considered if they can demonstrate relevant projects or work experience in the field of AI.​


Basic Requirements
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.

  • Must graduate on or after May 2026.

  • Must be a US Citizen, permanent resident or be an MS student with work authorization (F1 Visa on CPT accepted only for masters-level students).
