<p><p><b>Summary</b></p><p>We are seeking an experienced <b>Director of User Interface (UI) and Design Systems</b> to lead the UI design efforts at Workiva. The Director of UI will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of our digital products, catering specifically to the needs of our business customers. In this role, you will set and continually raise the bar for craft across Workiva’s product portfolio. They will lead a team of UI designers and design system designers in creating intuitive, efficient, and visually appealing interfaces that drive user engagement and satisfaction.</p><p><b>What You’ll Do </b></p><p><i>Lead Discipline Strategy: </i></p><ul><li><p>Provide strategic direction and leadership for the UI design team, aligning design initiatives with the company objectives.</p></li><li><p>Develop and implement a UI design strategy that focuses on delivering value to business users, enhancing productivity, and driving design system adoption.</p></li><li><p>Communicate UI design concepts, rationale, and trade-offs to stakeholders, gaining buy-in and alignment on design decisions.</p></li></ul><p><i>Foster Team Development and Culture:</i></p><ul><li><p>Develop a high-performing UI design team capable of delivering exceptional designs that meet business requirements.</p></li><li><p>Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the UI design team.</p></li><li><p>Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members to help them grow and excel in their roles.</p></li></ul><p><i>Drive Collaboration and Integration Prioritization:</i></p><ul><li><p>Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and customer success, to ensure UI designs support overall product goals and customer needs.</p></li><li><p>Partner closely with product management and engineering teams to translate business requirements and technical constraints into effective UI designs.</p></li><li><p>Integrate user feedback, usability testing results, and market research insights into the UI design process.</p></li><li><p>Manage UI design projects from concept to delivery, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.</p></li><li><p>Prioritize design initiatives based on business impact, customer feedback, and strategic objectives.</p></li><li><p>Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and resource constraints, and develop mitigation strategies to address them.</p></li></ul><p><i>Set Design Standards and Quality Assurance:</i></p><ul><li><p>Lead the creation of user interfaces for Workiva’s products, ensuring they are intuitive, efficient, and visually appealing.</p></li><li><p>Define and maintain UI design standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all products.</p></li><li><p>Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of UI designs to identify areas for improvement and optimization.</p></li></ul><p><b>What You’ll Need</b></p><p>Minimum qualifications</p><ul><li><p>10+ years of experience in user experience design, with strong case studies demonstrating measurable impacts. </p></li><li><p>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.</p></li></ul><p>Preferred qualifications </p><ul><li><p>Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and manage a team of designers in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.</p></li><li><p>Deep understanding of B2B software design principles, information architecture, and usability best practices.</p></li><li><p>Proficiency in UI design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, etc.</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.</p></li><li><p>Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.</p></li><li><p>Experience working in Agile or Lean product development methodologies is a plus.</p></li></ul><p>Working Conditions & Travel Requirements</p><ul><li><p>Availability for up to 25% travel</p></li><li><p>Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office</p></li></ul><p ><b>How You’ll Be Rewarded</b></p><p ></p>� Salary range in the US: $167,000.00 - $284,000.00<p >� A discretionary bonus typically paid annually</p><p >� Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire</p><p >� 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package</p><p ></p><p >The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US.
